Hello, I've set up my OBi100 with X-lite. Now, I would like to use an open source program called MicroSIP. I'm not having luck figuring out the settings. Can someone look at my settings and suggest changes? (Image at link below)

(I need an open source program, if you know of one that is better, please recommend it!)

I registered fine with the following settings:

Enter it this way with port number:
127.0.0.1:5060 (Whatever you have)

Jitsi is another open source client. However not as lightweight as Microsip.

Thanks! Everything works except inbound calls. However, I opened up X-lite and X-lite picked up inbound calls. Any idea why MicroSIP won't?

dgathree,

More than likely a NAT problem. Try
1) using a Stun server in the OBi (or Microsip) or
2) Port forward the 5060 (or whatever) to the OBi inside the router

dgathree,

Other than having 729 codec built in, for an open source product it is unusual, and perhaps a necessity to have a lightweight  client, Jitsi is a much more capable soft phone client. I could not even find the mute button on the Microsip product. I don't think that one is quite ready for prime time. If you don't have any preferences try Jitsi, and see how it works for you.

Ekiga is also open source with a different look and feel.

I think that is good advice, thanks! I tried Ekiga are there any settings I need to pay attention to or is there a guide on setting it up that you know of?

dgathree,

Ekiga
Setup an account. This is the only special thing you may need to know. Start the
OBiAPP first.

Registrar:
127.0.0.1:5060 (Whatever port)

Ekiga did not work either Sad, furthermore its source code was confusing (I need this software for a project). Do you have any experience using Jitsi? Is its configuration pretty straightforward?

dgathree,

Config is not as straight forward as Xlite. All three clients worked for me. Jitsi is mostly java based I think. I don't understand what your project entails, you should note that Jitsi is more than likely more complex than the Microsip client if you need to look at the source code.

You can find a list of sip clients here. Some are open source. Good luck.
