When using an OBi device to connect to an alarm panel, we recommend the use of In-Band DTMF.  Please note that modifying this parameter alone may not make for a successful use of the OBi + VoIP with the alarm system as there may be other factors outside the capability of the alarm system that make use of a VoIP service impossible.

To make this configuration modification, use the OBi Expert Configuration pages (found on the www.obitalk.com Device Configuration page).

Navigate to the ITSP Profile (A-D) -> General settings being used for the VoIP account connected to the alarm.  Set the DTMFMethod parameter to "InBand."

I'd add two cautions:

1) VoIP is not a reliable enough transmission method to use with an Alarm system.

2) Many central monitoring stations will not guarantee that a VoIP transmission will be received and result in dispatch of emergency services.  Often it's in their contract.

Be CAUTIOUS.
