Hello,

Just received my OBi110 today and I love it. Spent a good amount of time tweaking around with Trusted Circle and Speed Dials and such.

When I came to download OBiON, seeing the screenshot for setting up X-Lite, I thought that the OBiON on PC may be acting as a SIP server on 127.0.0.1 so that X-Lite could connect to.

I then grabbed my N900 phone, connected to home's wifi, then tried to set up a SIP account using the information of the OBiON. However...

While X-Lite allows you to connect to a SIP server without a password, my N900 doesn't, so I could not connect.

But is it really possible? That I could run OBiON on my PC connected to house's router, then open port 5060 to that PC, then BAM, I could use my N900 to make inbound and outbound calls for Free on my data plan through OBI, without costing any minute. Plus, I trust my own SIP server than some third-party ones.

Note:I don't totally have full understanding of SIP (just playing around with it for a few days), so I may sound naive, but it is just a thought. Also, just in case, N900 is just a Nokia smartphone.

It could be the same as the OBiON on iPhone or Android, but instead of installing the whole app (which I believe has its own SIP server), we just install a smaller App, then connect to our home SIP server to make call.

I can't tell you if it will work from a Nokia N900, but a PAP2 can successfully register with OBiON for PC and successfully make calls where the PAP2 and PC are on the same LAN.

Give it a try!

I don't have a PAP2 with me, but would you kindly share the configuration to make it work? For example, the IP to use, username and password?

I may figure out after looking at an example configuration.

I meant give your Nokia N900 a try.

Username : <OBiON OBiTALK Number>
Password : <anything>
IP Address : You PC's public IP address

You will have to forward SIP port 5060 through your router to your PC.  You may also need to the forward RTP ports 36000 - 36099.
