Title: OBI MESSAGE NOTIFICATION GOOGLE VOICE
Post by: thekbtgroup on February 21, 2016, 12:36:26 PM
I am using 2 google voice numbers.1)could I have message notification for both lines by fluctuating tone and/or light notification? 2)could I turn either line notification on and off or since I have 2 lines I cant distinguish which one left messages? 3) could I have different ring tones for my incoming calls so I could distinguish which line is ringing or only one ring tone?

If I buy obi202 and use one google voice number could I have to separate out puts  line1 & line2 same phone number and make 2 out going  calls at once does it work like a cloned line or I need 2 complete separate numbers

If you want the capability of two separate incoming / outgoing conversations at the same time (vs a three way call), you need two service providers and an Obi 202 or 504 or 508)

Google Voice doesn't support message waiting indication.

OBi devices have "ring profiles", which control the cadence (duration and interval length) of the rings for each service provider.  These profiles work like the old telephone company "distinctive ring" feature, so yes, you will get a different ring for SP1 vs SP2.

You need to use OBi Expert to view/modify ring patterns.
Each SP trunk can have a different ring pattern. The ring pattern is determined by a combination of a Ring Profile and a Ring Pattern number. These can be found here:

Voice Services -> SPx Service -> X_RingProfile
Voice Services -> SPx Service -> X_DefaultRing

There are 2 Ring Profiles (A and B). They are listed under Ring Settings. Each Ring Profile contains 10 Ring Patterns. The DefaultRing points to a Ring Pattern.

Ring Pattern 1 = 60;(2+4)
60 = Ring for 60 seconds

2 = Ring for 2 seconds
+4 = Silence for 4 seconds
Repeat for a total of 60 seconds

Ring Pattern 3 = 60;(.8+.4,.8+4)
.8 = Ring for .8 seconds
+.4 = Silence for .4 seconds
.8 = Ring for .8 seconds
+4 = Silence for 4 seconds
Repeat for a total of 60 seconds

These patterns can be modified.

By default, you should hear the standard USA ring tone for SP1, and the standard USA "distinctive ring" double tone for SP2.  Are you not hearing that?

You can select which ring tone is used for each SPn and you can even futz with the cadence if you like.  You will need to be comfortable changing settings in OBi Expert Mode on the OBiTALK portal.  You need to first confirm which ring profile, A or B, is being used for the SPn, then edit that Ring Profile's ring patterns (scroll way down the Ring Profile page to see them).

See my screenshot below, and refer to the OBi Device Administration Guide, starting on Page 169:

http://www.obihai.com/docs/OBiDeviceAdminGuide.pdf (http://www.obihai.com/docs/OBiDeviceAdminGuide.pdf)

Note:  in order to change settings on the portal web pages, you need to first un-check the right-hand box, then un-check the left-hand box, to unlock the setting for editing.  Click the Submit button at the bottom of the page when you are done editing.

NO.

No message waiting indicators at all for Google Voice.  That means:  no MWI (the stutter dial tone), and no VMWI (the blinking light on the phone).

If you need to know when you have a voicemail, add a mobile phone number as a forwarding phone to your Google Voice account, and GV can text or email you when you get a voicemail message, or just have it email your regular desktop email account.

Google Voice is not a free telephone company.  It's an inbound call forwarding and message management system.   If you are looking for the full range of typical telephone carrier features, then get paid service from a SIP VoIP telephone service provider.

Happy to start a new thread, but I like using old ones where possible....but can anyone tell me if this is still that case. That GV still does not support VWMI? Only asking because this thread is a few years old. Thanks!

Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead, and Google Voice still does not support MWI nor VMWI.

I don't know if this was possible two years ago.  Now, you can configure GV to forward to callcentric's free NY DID.  Configure callcentric to answer with the IVR which forwards to its (callcentric's) voice mail system.  Configure one of the itsp slots in the obi for the callcentric service which then allows you to have your MWI functioning.  This works quite well.  Callcentric does email notifications too which includes the vm as an attachment.

You must use the IVR function or google will intercept the call and use its own voice mail system.

Can you please clarify which service this is?  I'm not finding this in the list of services at Callcentric
