Title: OBI100 says need firmware update to use GV, but already using latest version
Post by: EnricoPallazzo on May 18, 2016, 03:07:34 PM
For the past 2 years, everything has worked fine, but 2 days ago, my service stopped working. I was able to re-authenticate GV in the ObiTalk dash to get it working, but today, when it happened again, I was not able to re-authenticate.

I currently have 1.3.0.2872 installed (the latest firmware version), but I am still receiving the message that I need to update the firmware in order for my Google Voice account to work. I've tried a factory reset and changing GV logins, but no dice. I would like to try downgrading the firmware (a solution that has worked for OBI 2xxx), but I cannot find the firmware for previous versions (e.g. 1.3.0.2824).

Anyone run into this issue or have a link to the previous firmware versions for OBI100?

NO, do not attempt to downgrade your firmware.  The message you are reading is basically an advertisement to get you to pay $10 for another year of customer support.  Just ignore the message, since your device is already at the current firmware level.

Follow these instructions to set up your device:

http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=8560.msg56460#msg56460 (http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=8560.msg56460#msg56460)

Note that there is currently a bug that is causing widespread authentication failures on OBi 100/110 devices.  There is nothing you can or need to do to fix this, until Obihai fixes it on their end.

Thank you! I figured that may have been the case. Do you know if there is a thread in this forum that discusses the issue? I would love to subscribe to that thread so that I know when the issue is resolved.

Funny enough, I sent ObiTalk a support message asking if this was a known issue, but because my device was out of warranty, they couldn't tell me...

Have a OBi110.  Exactly the same thing has happened to us.  C'mon Obihai, let's get on this.  Thanks!

My obi110 using google voice also stopped working today, after years of use and no network or google account changes. The message was something like "no google voice service" or the like. I've spent hours following online instructions, including Steve's, which I followed faithfully, to the letter:

http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=8560.msg56460#msg56460

I logged into Obitalk and saw what appears to be a shameful $10 extortion, insisting I needed to pay to upgrade my firmware, and also saying my gmail password was "old." (I thought from earlier reading that re-entering my gmail password was the solution, but Obitalk wouldn't let me do that). I continued with Steve's instructions & went ahead and deleted my SP1 configuration.  I noticed that my firmware is the latest one that Steve's instructions linked to (ending in 2872).  From there on I've been trapped in an endless, circular loop of clicking between "google voice setup" and "service provider setup" buttons, then choose google voice, but it never allows me to add or change anything. Just goes in circles.

Can someone give explicit instructions on how to configure SP1 for Google voice via the Expert User Configuration?

P.S. I have rebooted the obi100 several times.  I still haven't been able to fix the SP1 configuration on Obitalk, but when I tried one last time just now, I was able to make a phone call!  The phone # shown is not one I recognize - has a 242 prefix. SP2 is configured for 911 calls via Anveo, could that be what going on?

Anyway, I'm desperate to get my google voice connection back working.  Very much hope for advice, thank you all in advance.

As @SteveInWA said, there is nothing to do but wait for ObiHai to fix it. Subscribe to the other thread for updates on the issue.

Download the following new firmware version and install manually:

http://fw.obihai.com/OBi110-1-3-0-2886.fw (http://fw.obihai.com/OBi110-1-3-0-2886.fw)

Please report back if that fixed the problem.

I had this problem today also.  I tried to make a call and I received a message that my Google password was recently changed so I logged into my Obi account and tried to fix it but received the message about having to pay $10.  The firmware download worked.  Thank you!

NO, do not attempt to downgrade your firmware.
Attempt all you want, it won't allow you to go back.  After that OAuth2 update, I didn't like the fact that it now REQUIRED use of the Web site (OBiTALK portal), but the device wouldn't allow a downgrade back to the version using simple username and password entry.  Lamentably enough, I read today about some users on BBR/DSLR that refused that update, and never had any of the trouble warned/promised/threatened by Google way back when, and were still working.

OAUTH 2.0 authentication is required by Google to use the service.  The prior method was a security exposure and was removed from the firmware as required by Google.

While this is true, it is also true they are using an authentication protocol that has been deprecated by Google. At some point (who knows when) that old authentication method will cease to function.

Found the solution on another thread for the Obi100.

Download this firmware for the Obi110 http://fw.obihai.com/OBi110-1-3-0-2886.fw (http://fw.obihai.com/OBi110-1-3-0-2886.fw)
(Yes, I know its for the Obi110 but it will work in the Obi100).

Then Reboot.

If you don't know how to install the firmware:

Dial * * * 1

It will give  you the IP Address:  192.168.XXX.XXX   (example 192.168.1.27 )

In your browser, enter the IP Address as the URL.

User Name: admin
password: admin

On the left side, navigate to SYSTEM MANAGEMENT

Click DEVICE UPDATE

At the top where it says "Firmware Update
Select file to update firmware [BROWSE] ...."

Click BROWSE and add the file.    Then click UPLOAD

Once it reboots its done.

In the obitalk portal, you can delete the old device and add a new device.  Its should work with Google Voice using OAuth.

The 100 and 110 do not have individual firmwares.  There is only one and it runs on both devices.

Ditto, ditto, ditto...  Same problems yesterday and today and today the firmware "latest" pointer in the support forum is still wrong, pointing at 2872 whereas the "real" latest for OBI100 and OBI110 is 2886.

You may see rants on other threads on this board... Sorry... I didn't find this one til now...

For now it is working again. But after manually installing the new firmware all I had for ~10 minutes was blinking red / green.  The first time I unplugged the power cord for ~20 seconds, still the same. Then I unplugged for ~1 minute and it successfully rebooted and 2886 is running.

You have to upload the firewire version to 2886.  :)

If you don't upload this new version, even you reset the device to factory setting nothing help.

Like others our OBI 100 has been working fine for ages and then 2 days ago it all of a sudden wanted my wife and I both to re-sign in to  renew our Google Voice credentials.  That seemed to work for a little bit, but then things quit again--after logging into Obitalk (again) we started getting the ransom ad to get the new firmware.  The "latest" firmware here (https://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=9.0) did NOT work but v. 1-3-0-2886 from the link you provide was golden.  THANKS!!!

The ***6 procedure will not always offer the very latest firmware.

I must have looked around the internet for a whole day before I found this little nugget of information. It is such a crappy move to make that current firmware that their own website links to is not the most current for the OBi100 which makes people very confused. Thank you for posting this as I was getting all the same $10 Firmware Update fee notice everyone else was getting as I bought this in 2012.

After having to re-authorize my Obi110 for several days, then a couple of normal days - it not only went offline today but also refused to re-authorize as it had been doing.
These instructions allowed me to update it and now it is back online.

(No thanks go to the attempts at getting 'protection money' from those in charge, however.)

maybe a class action should be brought, probably too few users but they disabled my device today saying to upgrade for $10 or go to forum and download firm. their own forum sticky shows incorrect firm. I just paid the $10 and will dispute charge with credit card company once its posted. Thatll cost them at least $25 in the dispute resolution fee and likely will get my $10 back.

ObiTalk, please please consider stopping this extortion tactic as it wont turn out in anyone's favor. The original agreement was a one time hardware purchase, not this $10/year crap.

For a while the Google Voice complaints seemed to have stopped.  Then yesterday and today they've started up again.

It's curious that this problem did not happen for all 1xx series devices at the same time.

Last week, I unplugged the telephone line only to prevent calls.  Today, it occurred to me to switch to cat6 cabling since I just configured a Vrzn router to work on Comcast and have VoIP priority.  As soon as I have done this, a new connection attempt was made with Obi network and now it won't work and I got the same support upgrade message ($10).  Considering how long it's lasted, I'm pretty well off either way.  But back when Google gave out, I was duped into buying another Obi, just so I could use it with RingTo's free service.  Well, that was a joke, and then Google got back on board after all, and now I see that RingTo is ready to give up my number (guaranteed forever, especially since I bought the Obi just to get the new number).  Anyway, I'm sure I'll get this fixed easily enough.  My firmware only says 1.3.0

Perhaps you changed the password at some point.  You can factory-reset the OBi to revert back to the default admin password.  Pick up the phone attached to the OBi and key in ***8, then 1 to reset to factory defaults, and wait for it to reboot.

Did you change your password at some point? Go to the Obitalk web portal and click on the "gear" icon for your device. What does Webpage Admin Password say? Is that the password you are trying?

Thank you. It fixed my 110 problem, for now.

I have a question...

All of a sudden, Obi stopped working with the same people you guys have been experiencing.

Unfortunately, the firmware that I have is up to date. I even went to the admin menu and uploaded the file manually... it just said my firmware was the same one I tried to upload.

I reset everything and still no luck.

Can someone help please?

Which model of OBi do you have?

What do you mean by "with the same people"?  Was that just a typo, and you meant "with the same symptoms"?

Pick up the phone attached to the OBi and key in ***0 then 1# and tell us the last 4 digits it reads back to you.

Updating the firmware did it for me.  I should have looked here before I reached out to Tech Support.  Oh well at least the ticket will be an instant close which should help there numbers.

Anyhow I wanted to thank all for the really useful information.

And raspberries to ObiTalk for trying to extort $10 from me.

I downloaded the #2886 and did a manual update in the browser.  Then I found in the Dashboard that my phone is no longer connected.  I did a reconfig there-- during which I need to "Allow" ObiTalk to access mymessages, among other things.  Why is that necessary?  And does Obi keep that data?

Also before I updated, I backup "AA User Prompts" and "Configuration".  Do I need to restore those 2 files after my manual update of the firmware?

Also, I can't find a "logout" button in the browser config page.  Is there one?

TIA

Just download the 2886 firmware and update manually by following the 8nstructions in many posts on this forum.

I am not going to argue if OBi has the right to charge for updates but I do feel that they have the obligation and duty to inform customers who have purchased and supported there devices and service what their policy is on disabling or modifying a function/service on that device. OBi should remember that there are many companies that no longer exist because they disregarded their customer base and failed to adequately communicate. I don't want to lose OBi but they really need to step in here and speak to us.

In addition, future consumers need to understand what they are purchasing and how it will be supported.

yup.  had all the same problems.  Build 2886 seems to have repaired them. But first, trying to update FW was like a Mobius strip.   There was tons of Obi110 reboots and restarts.  Maybe 5-6 of them before 1.3.0 Build 2886 would download.

You should also visit

http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=8560.msg56460#msg56460

you should probably make a call from your computer using GV (call your cellphone and answer it).

I have borrowed from a lot of peeps here.

This is very important or your Mbious loop will last forever, from
SteveInWA

a hero indeed !

If you don't have any other service providers already configured on your OBi box, the cleanest thing to do is to log onto the OBiTALK portal, and delete your OBi device off of your account.  Then, factory reset the device, and add it back again.
Otherwise, if you already have some other (SIP) SPs you wish to keep, and/or some custom settings, then log onto the OBiTALK portal and just delete the Google Voice SP(s) you had previously configured.
Open another tab in the same browser (CTRL-T).  Log onto your Google Voice account here:  https://www.google.com/voice#phones
Verify that you see the exact two words "Your number" on the left side of the page, not "Access Number" or "Get a number", which would indicate that you don't have your own GV number.
If you only want to place outbound calls via GV's service, using your OBi, then you don't need your own, dedicated inbound GV telephone number.  Otherwise, you must either get a GV number from Google's pool of available numbers, or port in a mobile phone number to GV.  In order to get a new GV number, you must also add at least one legitimate (paid, not freebie), working, US-based forwarding phone number to the list, that can receive a verification call from Google.  This is a fraud and abuse-prevention measure.  Once you've completed this step, you can optionally disable or delete the forwarding number used for verification.
Verify that you also have "Google Chat" listed as one of your forwarding targets on the list.  If you want to receive calls via GV on your OBi, you must have a check mark next to Google Chat.  If you are going to instead forward inbound calls to a SIP ITSP (Callcentric, Anveo, voip.ms, etc.) phone number, then don't check the Chat box, but instead, add and check-mark the SIP ITSP phone number to your GV forwarding phone list, and later, add it to your OBi as another Service Provider.
Important note regarding Chat:  Google Chrome Browser no longer supports Chat at all; neither does Microsoft's new Edge browser.  If you need to configure Chat, you must use another approved browser, such as Firefox, MSIE or Safari.

Talk about extortion - look at this reply OBI support gave me earlier AFTER I already paid the $10 and my 110 wouldn't take the update through their portal... Are they serious?!?!?!? Luckily I was able to perform a hard reset and do the update myself and the device is fine...

Here's their message confirming their continued acts of extortion:

Hi,

Your OBi does not want to get its firmware updated, perhaps it is already too old.

In the meantime, we have refunded your $10 support fee.

We suggest that you get an OBi200 device, available at amazon.com

Well, I agree that they could have told you how to update it manually.  However, this indicates that you probably never updated the firmware to begin with, from the time you bought your device, and the build on the device was too old to be able to perform the update via the portal.  It's a good practice to keep your device updated in the future.

I have always kept my OBI devices up-to-date.  This recent maneuver by OBI is hogwash.

Is it possible to update the firmware manually via expert config and/or remotely while NOT on the same network the OBI is plugged in to?

Thanks for this, this solved my problem.   I haven't logged in to my account until I found out that my device is not working.  So here are some question regarding this firmware?

1) what is this firmware, do you have the release note?  I think I set my device to auto upgrade before, now I am out of warranty, and in my device setting there is no auto upgrade anymore, would they still auto upgrade it?

2) Can I disable the autoupgrade? Or they want everyone to subscribe the warranty?  in order to make the device work in the near future?

3) Can I downgrade to the 2014 firmware?

Thanks for the help.

I have successfully downloaded the new firmware. Yes, I triple checked. GV did not come back up as the SP1 choice. Nothing worked at all.

I clicked the "GV set up" on the dashboard and it reads that it's connected; however, my phone number does NOT show up.

I can call out to local #s only, like my cell phone, but my home number shows as "restricted" on the cell phone, with no number showing.  Additionally, NO calls inbound to the home # can reach us, and everyone receives the "GV customer you called is not available" or whatever its exact phrase it.

Moreover, I deleted the device - reset it following the instructions and GV automatically came up as the SP1, but again with NO associated # and the aforementioned problems are still happening.

I didn't change a thing with my Google data - esp the phone number. Logging in to GV has been useless too -- the damn number has vanished with the upgraded firmware.

Any ideas??

Are you saying that your GV number is not showing under "Your number" as in the screenshot below?  If yes, that cannot be caused merely by upgrading your Obi's firmware.

You don't have an OBi problem.  You have a Google Voice problem.  You are signed into the wrong Google account -- one that doesn't have a Google Voice number.  This easy to do by mistake.

Log out of ALL things Googley in your web browser, including Gmail, Docs, Maps, Voice, etc.  Clear your browser's cache, cookies and history.  Close and reopen the browser.  Log in again, paying careful attention to using the correct Gmail address and password that is associated with your Google Voice phone number.  If you don't see the exact two words, "Your number" on the left side of the web page, then you are either still logged onto the wrong account, or your Google Voice phone number was reclaimed (taken back by Google) for lack of use.

You can use the tool linked below to have Google send an automated email note to the correct Gmail address that hosts the number.  Of course, you must have kept a record of any Gmail accounts you created, so you can go look for the note.

Yes there is a # on the lower left of the page, but isn't mine. GV couldn't have reclaimed my # for lack of use, because it was used every day for four years.

Btw, I thought it might be a GV issue, but happened with the OBI update. I'll try the Google link route next.

Thanks.

The reason it happened when you performed the OBi firmware update, was because the update necessitated re-authenticating your OBi device with your Google Voice account.  You were logged into the wrong Google account when you did that, so now your OBi device can't access the GV account that holds your GV phone number.  You will need to find the correct Google account.

If/when you do find the correct Google account, you need to be logged into that account in your web browser, and then press Ctrl-T to open a new browser tab, leaving the GV web page open in the first tab.  Then, log into your OBiTALK dashboard, click on your OBi, click on SP1 or SP2, whichever one you use with GV, and then, after getting past the 911 call warning, click the link to "Replace Google Account Credentials".  Look closely at the Google username it displays, and make sure it is for the correct Google Voice account.  Submit your change and wait for the OBi to reboot.  That will fix it.

Steve,

I REALLY appreciate your prompt and well informed responses but there is another problem I suppose: I have never had a different Google account.  I am using my one and ONLY gmail account, and what I assume is my only Google account.  I have had to change the password, but never the gmail account/email.

Thanks again.

Enter your Google Voice phone number into the username assistance tool webpage I posted.

You will see one of two results:  If it says "The number, xxxxxxxxxx, you provided does not appear to be a Google Voice number." then your number was reclaimed.  If it says this:

"We've sent you an email message with login instructions for Google Voice associated with your (xxx) xxx-xxxx number. An email was sent to your gmail.com account username associated with Google Voice. Please check your gmail.com account for your login information.
If you have multiple accounts with gmail.com, try checking all the accounts. If the email from this page doesn't seem to arrive, you might check your Spam folder in case the message got misrouted. Please make sure that your inbox is not full so that this message does not bounce."

Then you do, in fact, have some other Google/Gmail account.

People often say "I only have ONE account, and I am sure about it", but this tool is the official source of information.

Could it be that I simply changed my name as it appears on the web?  I did that some time ago; however, I have never had another gmail account.  Would the new name be treated as a separate account?

Thanks again.

No.  That has nothing to do with it.

Did you enter your phone number into the username assistance web page?  Which answer did it give you?

Based on it telling you that it sent a note to your email account, I can assure you that:

That tool is looking directly at the Google account that is assigned to your Google Voice telephone number.  It has no way to make a mistake.  The fact that it found your number absolutely, positively, without any doubt, means that it is assigned to a particular email address/userid, and if you don't see the number, then you are logged into the wrong account.

There is nothing else that can be done to recover your number, if you can't find the account.  You would need to sign up for a new Google Voice phone number.

Obihai can't fix this.  It has nothing whatsoever to do with them.

Using a laptop or desktop computer's web browser, not a smartphone or tablet, log into your Google Voice account, using the user ID you believe to be correct.  Go to this web page.

https://www.google.com/voice#phones (https://www.google.com/voice#phones)

Look at the left side of the page.  If it says the exact two words, "Your number", then that's your Google Voice number, and you're logged into the correct account.  If it says "Access number" or "Get a Voice number", then you are logged into the wrong account.

If it doesn't say "Your number", and you want to get another GV phone number, then click the "Get a Voice number" link.

There is no such thing as Google Support for Google Voice.  I explained exactly what your problem is.  It is a case of PEBKAC (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=pebkac).

Here's your hammer.  Now, go buy a magicJack.

Until now Steve, you have been a very patient and helpful man. Now, however, you're acting like a child.  Correct, there is NO support for GV..my wife handed me the phone after she made the call. I didn't think I needed to say that, or correct her while she was trying to help. Nevertheless, someone from Google was trying to help me for 90 minutes to no avail.

OBI meet hammer was a euphemism for "I'm upset."  Do you know what a euphemism is?  I'm sorry that it went over your head.

Let me repeat what I said earlier: I have been using GV & OBI for F O U R straight years, with no problems...so it goes without saying that OVERALL I am quite happy.

Don't get ur panties in a bunch dude.

It's curious that this problem did not happen for all 1xx series devices at the same time.

I believe that is because it happens on the anniversary of when you first used your Obi device. Happened to me in April 2015, and again April 2016. Began using my Obi in April 2013, so they missed 2014.   :D

Dear Sir/Mam,

Highly appreciate your fast respond!

May I explain something to you?

    1) I can heard dial sound correctly
     2) I can download new firmware and showed me :the firmeware is identical  and succeed

http://fw.obihai.com/OBi110-1-3-0-2886.fw

     3) dial **9 222 222 222   is good : The echo from phone seems work well.
4)  I  call regular phone number  then I can heard : your phone
"no service continue in your area please log on OBITALK.COM to fix it"

Do you think it is some set up procedure is not correct or the firmware is not match this device now?

When I dial ***1 , I can't heard IP address and just check it from router.
Seems it is set up  or firmware propbelm ,no hardware broken.

I need your help !!!

You need to actually subscribe to a VoIP provider's service or obtain Google Voice.

Thank you for your post!  I am no techie, but was able to download the firmware update, install manually, and then use my obitalk account to configure Google Voice on our Obi100 automatically on SP2 and this enabled our outgoing calls to start working again.  I use GV on the Obi to dial out for normal calls.  In our setup, SP1 is used for incoming calls via Callcentric (for name and number caller ID) and for outgoing 911 calls. I used Vestalink for a couple years on this obi with caller ID spoof for outgoing calls, but decided to try this less expensive alternative setup that others have recommended.  Seems to be working great so far and costing us $1.50 per month overall.

I'm 100% sure I updated to the latest firmware, but my Obi has alternating red and green no matter what I do.  I couldn't dial to get the IP address from the phone I have GV connected with since my phone shows "Check TEL Line" so I went to my router and found the IP address to upload the firmware that way (http://192.168.1.112/ for me).

I went to the IP address and then I see this:

I click on update and then I see the light on my Obi turn orange for a bit, and then I see that it updated successfully, but even after power cycling and waiting for 3 minutes, 5 minutes, and 10 minutes, it still alternates red and green....

I don't know what to do :( I can use Google Voice still and just forward everything to my cell phone and not use the Obi anymore....but I know this can be fixed somehow.

Please ask me any questions you need to ask that may help you help my family.  Thank you!

For now it is working again. But after manually installing the new firmware all I had for ~10 minutes was blinking red / green.  The first time I unplugged the power cord for ~20 seconds, still the same. Then I unplugged for ~1 minute and it successfully rebooted and 2886 is running.

Hi:

Your screenshot didn't work.  Can you try again?  You need to save the screenshot as a JPG or PNG or GIF file.

See:  http://www.take-a-screenshot.org/ (http://www.take-a-screenshot.org/)

The flashing red and green LEDs means that the firmware update was corrupted, and now it can't completely boot up.  If the device is getting an IP address, and the page you see (the one in your invisible screenshot) is inviting you to upload the firmware again, then first discard any copy of the firmware you previously downloaded, and then download a fresh copy here:  http://fw.obihai.com/OBi-latest.fw (http://fw.obihai.com/OBi-latest.fw)

If that fails, then your OBi's flash memory has failed, and you'll need to buy a new one.  I recommend the OBi 200, as a better device overall, with a more capable processor, more memory, support for 4 service providers, and the ability to upgrade to potential new features.

Post by: diazfamily on July 09, 2016, 10:33:51 PM
I tried using the "insert image" button but it didn't work, so I just attached it instead.

The thing is, I've had a perfectly working Obi since July 2013.  Then all of a sudden I get this green and red alternating light?  Doesn't make sense.

I'm guessing it kept trying to automatically update since I never turned off the feature, but due to the new $10 thing, it kept failing...

The Obi 200 sounds nice, but I really don't need all the features it provides..unless you're willing to donate $50 :)

Maybe since my screenshots are no longer "invisible" you'll have a better idea of what problem I'm having.  Again, please ask more questions if needed.  I appreciate your help!  Thanks.

The flashing red and green LEDs, and the special firmware upgrade screen you now see, are evidence that your OBi now has a corrupted firmware image loaded on it (for whatever reason).

Log onto the OBiTALK portal, and completely delete your OBi device off of the dashboard.  Wait a few minutes.

Unplug the OBi from power and from the Ethernet cable.  Using a paper clip, gently depress the recessed reset button on the bottom of the device until you can feel a click.  Plug just the power cable into the OBi while continuing to hold in the reset button (requires some dexterity, or get a friend to help).  Wait at least 10 seconds, until the power LED starts blinking.  Release the reset button.  Wait... give it time for the factory reset to attempt completion; Five minutes would be fine.  It will likely still show the alternating red/green power LED.  Plug the Ethernet cable back in.

As I mentioned above, download a fresh copy of the firmware, and enter the file location on the firmware update page you posted, and click the button to upgrade.  Again, be patient and wait.

If this doesn't fix it, then it has a hardware failure that can't be fixed.  You'll need to buy a new one.

Looking at amazon.com, it appears that the 100 devices are out of stock, and are currently only being sold by third party sellers.  Do not buy from them.  Wait until it's available again, directly from Amazon, and not from a third-party.

The 200 devices are in stock, but you need to click the link in "Note: Available at a lower price from other sellers, potentially without free Prime shipping." to see the direct-from-Amazon choice.

Hint:  Amazon "Prime Day" is coming up soon, on July 12th.  It would be worth waiting to see if an OBi model goes on sale.

This worked for me so well. Thx for the firmware and instructions

No service this morning with Obi100 with current firmware in place.  Tried to make a call & was told to log into Obitalk.  When I did, it says OBi now longer supports this device and I need to reconfigure it.  GV on SP1 and Callcentric on SP2.  I have tried 3 times unsuccessfully to reconfigure.  I even get a message on the top of the configuration page that GV was successfully configure and yet the message next to SP1 say Service NOT configured.  What the heck is going on?  If our OBi 100 is still in working order, why is OBi not allowing us to configure the device?

Edit/Update:  This is BS.  I have an OBi 200, so I just configured my services there!

Double check that your firmware build is 2886.  If not, perform a manual upgrade to 2886 and that should solve the problem.  If it is already 2886, factory reset and reconfigure.

Got mine working the OBi110. Did the firmware update "1.3.0 (Build: 2886)" then hold the button on the bottom of it for 15 sec. Went to obitalk.com and said to set up my Google voice again. But after a wile it error-ed and said to type on my phone some *** number. I did and my OBi110 reset it self about 5 times wile I went to set it up. I could hear a little click on it.

Went to set it up again on obitalk.com and it set up my SP2 and I seen my SP1 changed to "Connected" so I deleted the SP2.

I tested it out calling my cell phone and it works again.

So the Factory Reset button seems to fix it.

It seems clear to me. They are selectively screwing Obi 100's, and then tell you to buy an Obi 200. My Obi 100 works fine, until the cable company reboots my modem, then a hassle to get Obi to reboot. Again, it works fine for weeks until a modem reboot.

I have a OBi110 that had 1.3.0 (Build: 2872) on it that stopped working.

NOTE: I did not have to delete my existing information in obitalk.com or manually press the reset button on the device.

These are the steps that resolved my problem.

NOTE: At this time (at least for me), there is no need to follow the instructions referred to in the link towards the beginning of this thread:
http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=8560.msg56460#msg56460

I successfully manually installed the 1.3.0 (Build: 2886) update.

(This is not a necessary step) Went to make a call and the call didn't go through, but it told me to login into OBiTALK and update my password.

I logged into obitalk.com and immediately a screen came up mentioning that my Google Voice information needed to be updated, I selected OK.

I believe I got a screen that I had to select 'Accept' regarding Emergency Service Calls (911).

It took me to the 'Device Configuration' screen

Even thought the 'Active Google Username' listed was correct, I had to select the hyperlink:
'Click Here to replace the active Google Account'.

It brought up a 'Google (Request for Permission)' screen in a separate little browser window, I selected 'Allow'.
Next a 'Google Voice Account Confirmation (OBiTALK: Google Voice Account Confirmation)' with my Google Voice E-mail address, I selected 'Confirm', it came back to the 'Configuration Name' screen, I selected 'Save', after that my device restarted and Connected.  It's now working.

If this helps you, Just Thank the Lord!

The Lord had nothing to do with fixing your Google Voice service.  Updating the firmware and re-authorizing your device did, as described here:

Here is a good one.

Outgoing calls on my Obi110 worked fine, but incoming calls would not ring the phone.

Spent ~3 hrs on New Year's going through all the steps discussed here (firmware, reset, delete device), with no success.  I had already update the firmware.

Then, I looked at the phone, and the ringer had somehow been turned off.

Moral: start simple, and don't ignore the obvious!

Thanks very much for the detailed instructions and was able to add OBI 110 back.
