Title: outgoing voice drops, even without router
Post by: skipro on July 28, 2011, 06:39:27 PM
Obi100 & 110 with GV
Started using Obi 3 weeks ago with no problems. Several days ago I started to experience dropped outgoing voice. It has gotten bad enough to be unusable. I removed the router from the circuit and it was better but I am still dropping the outgoing voice. Incoming voice is fine. Happens with both units. Comcast cable, service seems OK.

The most likely culprit is the uplink side of your Internet service.

Run the following in a Windows CMD prompt and wait for it to complete:

C:\>ping -n 100 74.125.157.125

to see if there is any packet loss or high latency.

Results of ping -n 100 74.125.157.125:
Sent = 100
Received = 99
Rd trip time = 33-53 ms, Avg 35ms

Nothing wrong with that.

Do you have another Google Voice account you could try to see if the problem is on that end?

You may run a speed test and see if you have sufficient bandwidth to place calls.

You may also place calls through Gmail call phone service, see if any outgoing voice drops. Just compare to your OBi units, if problem only exists in OBi devices, please send us a email at support@obihai.com, thank you,
