Title: Two Obi110s, USA <---> DR How to connect them...
Post by: plc101man on August 06, 2011, 01:57:06 PM
I have two Obi110s, one in the USA and one that I'm about to send to Dominican Republic.

Thanks to RonR to help me setup the one in USA.

This is what I'm trying to set up:

* Obi110 #1  (USA) [ Google Voice in SP1 for incoming and outgoing calls ] [Callcentric in SP2 for 911 and international calls]  All this works great. Thanks RonR !!!

* Obi110 #2 (DR)  [Google Voice in SP1 to bridge a DR POTS line in the line port] [Another Google Voice in SP2 for the phone port for inbound and outgoing calls to USA only]

What I would like to do is this:

1. When an incoming call in the DR pots line comes in I would like to bridge it to Google Voice in SP1 and call the callcentric account in my Obi110.

2. If the above is not possible how do I bridge the call directly to the Obi110 #1 in the USA.

3. I would like to add trusted caller IDs from DR so they can make USA calls using the Google Voice in SP1.

Thanks in advance...

Before proceeding, would it be more advantageous for both OBi's to be able to freely make calls through through their own trunks as well as the other OBi's trunks?  If so, then the same solution for multiple OBiON Apps is the solution for multiple OBi's:

http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=1103.0

The beauty of using this approach is that adding more OBi's and/or OBiON Apps requires almost no work.  The configuration in each OBi is identical and the only change required to existing OBi's when you add another OBi or OBiON App is adding the new OBiTALK number(s) to the Circle of Trust DigitMap (cot).

Sounds very cool...
I'll give a try, even though my needs are simple.
I just need two Obi110s to bridge to each other.
Í'll post my progress.

Thanks RonR I'll give it a whirl...

RonR:

Hmmm...   I entered the settings per the post but I cannot get them to work...

I just need to ring SP1 (with Google Voice) every time an incoming call in LINE port comes in or forward the call to another number.

Thanks for all your hard work !!!

As you can see from the comments by others, it does work.

If you post your settings, I'll help you figure out where things went wrong.

Thanks !!!

I had a few typos...   :(   sorry...

I tried the calling from every line (of the two Obi110's) and it works like a champ !!!

How do I make now all incoming calls in LINE [Obi110 #2 (RD)] to always ring the SP1 [Obi110 #2 (RD)] ???

Thanks in advance !!!

If you want all calls that arrive on the LINE Port of the second OBi to be forwarded out SP1 of that OBi:

Physical Interfaces -> LINE Port -> InboundCallRoute : {SP1(12341234567)}

where 12341234567 is the number you want those calls forwarded to.

If I were to change it to:

Physical Interfaces -> LINE Port -> InboundCallRoute : {SP1}

Would it just ring the Google Voice number setup in SP1  ???

That not a valid syntax.  Even if it were and initiated a call to the phone number belonging to the Google Voice account configured on SP1, you'd end up checking your Google Voice voicemail (that's what happens when you call your Google Voice number from your Google Voice number).

What are you actually trying to accomplish?

I am getting a standard POTS line in DR and I am going to connect to the LINE port on the Obi110 and when my mom or any or my relatives and friends that call the number on the POTS line from DR it will ring my Google Voice number (SP1 on the Obi110 #2) that is forwarded to my cellphone and my wife's cellphone.

I have my cell and my wife's cell as forward numbers on the Google Voice account setup in the Obi110 #2 for DR in SP1.

Does that make any sense or is there an easier way.

I just want to make it easy for my Mom, so she just doesn't have to dial any special dial codes
or anything. (she is 71)

Don't have Google Voice on the DR OBi ring your cell phones.

Physical Interfaces -> LINE Port -> InboundCallRoute : {SP1(12341111111),SP1(12342222222)}

where 12341111111 and 12342222222 are your cell phone numbers.

This should cause the DR OBi to simultaneously call both of your cell phones on any call into the DR OBi's LINE Port.  The first one to answer wins.

I have my cellphone registered as a trusted caller in ObiTalk account.

When I call my Obi110 #2 (RD), what will be the call syntax if I want to make an outbound call thru the LINE port ?

You don't use the Trusted Callers / Circle of Trust on the OBiTALK Web Portal with this configurastion.  Leave it all empty.

Your USA OBi is named 2.  Your DR OBi is named 3.  There is no OBi named 1 due to restrictions imposed by the OBiTALK Web Portal's assignment of Speed Dials.

From either OBi, you make calls using its local trunks as usual:

     18005551212  ->  Local PrimaryLine
**1 18005551212  ->  Local SP1 Service
**2 18005551212  ->  Local SP2 Service
**8 18005551212  ->  Local LINE Port
**9 200123456      ->  Local OBiTALK Service

From the DR (3) OBi, you make calls using the USA (2) OBi's trunks:

    2*18005551212  ->  OBi #2 PrimaryLine
2 **1 18005551212  ->  OBi #2 SP1 Service
2 **2 18005551212  ->  OBi #2 SP2 Service
2 **8 18005551212  ->  OBi #2 LINE Port
2 **9 200123456      ->  OBi #2 OBiTALK Service

From the USA (2) OBi, you make calls using the DR (3) OBi's trunks:

    3*18005551212  ->  OBi #3 PrimaryLine
3 **1 18005551212  ->  OBi #3 SP1 Service
3 **2 18005551212  ->  OBi #3 SP2 Service
3 **8 18005551212  ->  OBi #3 LINE Port
3 **9 200123456      ->  OBi #3 OBiTALK Service

OBiON Apps are 'local' to the OBi whose OBiTALK number is set as its Voice Gateway.

The ObiON app works great on my iphone but the lack of creating contacts with the proper syntax is restricting.
There is an app for the iphone called CardCaller that makes this process smoother.
It will be nice if the ObiON app will allow you to create the contacts with 2 **2 1########## or any syntax, so you can make calls thru any trunk of your Obi devices.
I found out that just using the Trusted Caller I can only make calls only thru the default outgoing trunk in the Obi110 when I'm calling from my cellphone.
But with this CardCaller is still useful because I can pick any contact from my contact list in my iphone and only have to dial # at the end.

Many thanks for all the help.

I have the line in DR up and running.

I have tried to make calls using the single stage dialing in rings once and then I get a busy tone.

The incoming calls in the LINE port are not being transferred to SP1.

Please some help.

Does the Call History in the OBi and the Call History at Google Voice give any clues?  Are things trying to go the right places?
