Title: POTS Line Dialing Delay
Post by: bsdaiwa on November 11, 2017, 12:52:24 PM
I have my Obi 200 setup in Brazil with an OBiLINE attached to handle the local POTS line. I have been struggling with a problem for a long time and have yet to figure out how to solve it. Each time I place a call using the POTS line there is a delay of about 15 seconds before the first ring tone. When I connect the phone directly to the outbound POTS line, bypassing the Obi, the delay is only 2 to 3 seconds. Is there a way to adjust the OBi so the delay is much less than 15 seconds?

If you need to know how we dial local numbers here it is the dialing sequence.

Local call made within the same city code: xxxx-xxxx
Calls made to locations outside of our city code: 21+city code+local number (21-xx-xxxx-xxxx)
International Calls: 00 + operator code (21) + country code + city code + destination phone number.
Police: 190
Fire: 193
Ambulance: 192

I also have CallCentric on one SP and GV setup on two other SP's and there are no long delays on those lines.

Any help would be appreciated.

Adding a # to the end of a number tells the OBi that you are not going to dial any more digits and it gets to work immediately instead of waiting for another digit or a timeout.  Does that significantly reduce the delay you experience?  If yes there is scope for optimising your Obi's settings.

You need to change your Line Port DigitMap. There will be a 10 second delay if the dialed number only matches rule "xx.".

Physical Interfaces -> Line Port -> DigitMap:
(xxxxxxxx|21xxxxxxxxxx|00xx.S3|190|192|193)

You can add rule xx.S3 to match any other patterns.
The S3 will override the 10 second delay when rule ends with x. with 3 seconds.

drgeoff, the # did speed up the connection and azrobert that DigitMap worked. Thanks to both of you for this solution.

azrobert I screwed up, I forgot about cell phones, they have 9 digits and begin with 9. They would look like 9xxxx-xxxx. Could you be so kind and show me how to make that correction.
Thank you

(xxxxxxxx|21xxxxxxxxxx|9xxxxxxxx|00xx.S3|190|192|193)

or

(9?xxxxxxxx|21xxxxxxxxxx|00xx.S3|190|192|193)

The digit before the ? is optional.

Dam I seem to have screwed up on this and forgot one issue, it seems that when you call a toll free number it does not work. Toll free numbers are 0800xxxxxxx, azrobert if you are around, how would I add this into the Line Port DigitMap. The current one I am using is (xxxxxxxx|21xxxxxxxxxx|9xxxxxxxx|00xx.S3|190|192|193).
Thanks
