Title: OBI202, no Telephone Line
Post by: anav_ds on November 27, 2017, 11:29:16 AM
Hi there my 202 went on the fritz today. I came home and no telephone line.
I checked the router solid green for power green blinking for internet and both telephone lines solid green.  I cycled the power supply and the internet on the unit. all good.
I thought okay maybe the cord between the phone and my patch panel has gone on the wayside.
I tried two phones directly plugged into the OBI, NO SIGNAL??

What is the problem-solution??

Should I reset to defaults........ and how do I get back to my Anveo connection if I do that?
( my username and password to get onto the device do not seem to be working :-(  )

I have a spare OBI202........ should I try that, and how hard is it to get it working with my account........same as setting the one above to defaults?

Update, I have a spare obi202 at home and after trying a factory reset, no joy (internet worked but not phone lines) I decided to confirm with brand new unit.  As suspected it started up phone and provided a dial tone.  Oh happy day!
Then I registered the device with Obi.   Not quite sure late last night how to setup the new device and thus left a ticket with Anveo.   Woke up this morning and the response was waiting.  I re-provisioned the device and now can receive and place calls again!!    Two lessons learned, if dependent upon having the phone line up and running ensure one has a spare on hand.  Luckily the sale this weekend for a 202 was excellent so my new spare is on the way.  Second, dont play with old powered door bell systems that interacted with the phone lines (rang the phone lines). Somehow I must have sent voltage back along the lines that fried the OBIHAI2.
I was very much thinking of going the smarthome doorbell route and that is now cemented in as my way forward.  Enough of old tech LOL.
