Title: 911 Confusion
Post by: JackNorth on February 28, 2018, 10:44:26 AM
(I know this has GOT to be answered already, but my search on these forums showed posts from 2012 and 2-13!)

Basically, how do I sign up for 911 service? I saw an FAQ (I think) that says just look for the 911 button on the Dashboard. There is no 911 button that I can see.

My device is set up with GoogleVoice and it works fine. I now just want to add 911.

Please advise.
Thanks,
Jack

Short answer is that Google Voice does not provide 911 service, so there is no configuration or button to enable it. You will need to sign up for a separate service provider for 911 service and add that to your Obi device. I use CallCentric for my 911 service in addition to my Google Voice service.

CallCentric charges $1.50/month for e911. I think that is as low as you can find it. With CallCentric, you can sign up for a Free NY Number with no outgoing calls and pay $1.50/month. Or you can sign up for their North America Basic plan which includes e911 and 120 minutes of outgoing calls for $1.95/month.

Search the forums for CallCentric and CallerID Name (CNAM), here's a link: http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=3640.msg24230#msg24230

There is no 911 button that I can see.

From the OBi dashboard, click on the blue "gear" icon. On the Device Configuration page you will see a blue button that says "Anveo E911 Sign-Up."
