Title: Obi200 cannot be added as new device 3.2.2 (Build: 5921EX)
Post by: MaryJane on October 12, 2019, 12:38:06 PM
GV stopped working. I tried to set up again, it was stuck on configuring.

I deleted the device and now I cannot add OBI200 back again.

I can log into the unit from the IP address (admin/admin) but for some reason the unit cannot be added.

No firewall is on. I opened all the ports.

Add an OBi Device
Failed to connect to your device. Please check your device's internet connection:

1. Check to be sure the OBi device's power LED solid green. If the power light (LED) is blinking green, that means the OBi can't get an IP address from your router. Verify the Ethernet cable is securely connected to the OBi and the router. If available check if there is a link light (LED) on the router port where the Ethernet cable connects. If the LED behavior appears to be faulty, try another Ethernet cable.

2. Can you call **9-222-222-222 ? If not, make sure your router's firewall is not blocking traffic from the OBi. Click Here for more.

3. If you are using a Westell / Actiontec router, you MUST disable the firewall. Click Here for more.

Click Try Again or click Cancel to return to the device list.

Does a call to **9 222 222 222 work or not?

When I dial, I get; "There is no service to complete your call" message.

As of a few seconds before I began typing this I could reach the echo test number so nothing amiss with it.  Until you can successfully call that number you have no prospect of adding your Obi to your dashboard.

I suspect that whatever you have done - "I opened all ports" - has done more harm than good.  Home routers generally have no means of opening ports.  I suggest resetting your router to defaults and and then reconfiguring it to as it was before you had GV problems.  GV problems were widespread a day or two ago.  Almost certainly there was no need for you to do anything other than wait for Google to fix whatever they broke.

I did have same unsuccessful attempt adding before messing with the ports. There is something not right but cannot figure out.

If your router is a separate item from your cable or xDSL modem, as a test connect the OBi directly to the modem. That is, remove the router from the path.  Reboot the OBi and try the echo test.

And if you have another phone, try using it.

I have done what you told me. I separated them. Still same issue. Cannot add. I have read somewhere that weekends Obi has issues????

I already told you that until the echo test works you have no prospect of adding the OBi to your dashboard. Does it?

Turns out I was doing everything correctly but the Obi was the problem. All fixed now. Everything works. Thanks for the replies drgeoff.
