Title: Can't "Add Device" on OBiTalk
Post by: johnnysomething on April 22, 2020, 08:00:32 PM
I just bought this OBi200. It's connected to internet via ethernet cable, power light is solid green, internet light is mostly solid green, phone light blinks green when I use the phone.

The Echo test works fine. However, when I go to "Add Device" on my account online, and I dial **5 XXXX (whatever digits they happen to be) I always get either a busy signal (sometimes before I even finish dialing the 4 digits) or an automated message saying "There is no service available to complete your call"

Everyone on here getting that message keeps getting told to go to the device settings to fix the issue, but I can't access that because I'm getting this message simply trying to add my device to my account. I've tried dialing ***6 and checking for an update (option 6 on the main menu), but the automated voice just ignores my input... I know that isn't a hardware problem because it knew I dialed 6 to get the OBi menu in the first place. I also did a factory reset from the same menu, to no avail.

If anyone has any advice, it would be very much appreciated. Let me know if you need any other info.

Is your problem exactly the same?  You can dial **9 222 222 222 and get the "Welcome to Obitalk and ..." reply but the **5 XXXX procedure fails?

I deleted my OBi202 from the OBi dashboard to test things. I was able to add it back to the OBi Dashboard using **5 XXXX procedure with no issues.

Hello,
I have new Obi202 device which was never configured. I am trying to set it up for first time from India.
Step 1: Connect Ethernet Cable - LED GREEN / Telephone Cable - LED OFF when idle, turns GREEN when receiver lifted/ Power Adpater - LED GREEN
Step 2: Dialed ObiTALK Test No. Successfully, received echo
Step 3: Completed setting up OBiTalk Account on obitalk.com, registered myself
Step 4: Unable to add device. I am dialing **5 XXXX from Phone and this number gets sent to OBi Server but still my device does not get added in my account.

Can anyone let me know if this is possible to be done from outside USA ? Specially from India ?

Thanks

It is possible from virtually anywhere, including India.  However, the Obihai server which handles the **5 nnnn procedure has been on the blink for months and although Obihai are aware of the issue they appear to be incapable of fixing it.  It does work occasionally.  Either keep trying or do your configuration using the device's on board configuration web server.  Except for configuring a GV number (which is unlikely to be relevant to you in India) everything else can be set up that way.
