Title: Is the ChannelRxGain setting really working?
Post by: JaskHill on June 18, 2021, 10:06:44 AM
Hi,

People complained that my voice is too low when I call them. So I went to my OBI 200 -> Physical Interfaces -> PHONE1 Port -> ChannelRxGain, trying to put this value to, say 5 or 6, from 0.

But to my dismay, it did not make any difference. People still complained that my voice is just as low as in the past. No difference at all.

So do people know whether this ChannelRxGain setting is a real setting or a placebo setting?

If it is a fake / placebo setting, nothing really happened behind the screen, why did Obihai do it?

I suspect that someone who has been here long enough to make 35 posts has not fallen foul of the portal overriding changes made locally on an OBi unless Obitalk Provisioning has been disabled.  But that is the only reason that comes to my mind.

You can use the echo test at **9 222 222 222 to hear for yourself if changes are making a difference.

I was going to post a screenshot, showing how I set the ChannelRxGain on my OBi 200 and 202, but the #@#$! portal hangs trying to display the setting.  Sheesh.

Anyhow, yes, I use the setting, and it works as expected.
