Title: Change Calling Number Displayed
Post by: k9jenius on November 04, 2014, 09:51:01 am
I had a Google Voice number, XXX-XXX-1234, and used it with my
Obi100 for a long time.   When notified by Obi that Google Voice
was no longer going to be supported, I ported my GV number
to Call Centric several months ago.   Now that Google Voice is
(at least now) again working with Obi, I created a new
Google Voice number XXX-XXX-5678 and set up my Obi with 2
service providers (Google Voice and Call Centric).
For outgoing calls, I'm using GV because it's free.
People calling me (per my request) still call my Call
Centric XXX-XXX-1234 number.

I do not want to port my number back from Call Centric to
Google Voice; I'm just not sure that Google Voice will
continue to work with Obi in the long term.   I'm
very happy with Call Centric service and want to keep them
at least for 911 service.    The few dollars a month I spend
for CC service is worth it to me.

So right now, when I place a call with my Obi (using Google Voice),
people I'm calling see my new GV number (XXX-XXX-5678)
as my calling number.

Is there some way I can change this so that my Call Centric
number (XXX-XXX-1234) will be displayed to the people I call?

Google Voice doesn't support number spoofing, so, no.  You'd need to make the calls using your Callcentric number.
