Title: UseForPagingOnly Dial tone?
Post by: SamF on December 03, 2014, 06:51:28 pm
According to the manual and reality (I tested it works :) )

UseForPagingOnly will
Quote
Using the OBi as a Paging System
You may connect the OBi PHONE port to an external PA system via an RJ11-to-Line-Out connector (available at many popular electronics shops), and enable the PHONE port option UseForPagingOnly. In this configuration, the phone port is expected to be “off-hook” all the time. The OBi will automatically answer incoming calls. It will not accept call-waiting.
When the phone port goes from on-hook to off-hook, in case the user needs to dial * * * to invoke the IVR, the OBi will play a dial tone for 5 seconds. After 5 seconds the OBi will turn silent
and be ready to accept an incoming call to page

The issue is if there is a power outage the device turns off and back on and then the paging system will play a LOUD Dial tone as stated :-(

The question is how can we shut this off, or can we change the dial tone "tone" to silence?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Tone settings -> Tone Profile A -> Dial Tone -> Tone Pattern: 350-18,440-18;0

I changed the last field from 20 to zero.
20 will play Dial Tone up to 20 seconds.
Zero will skip tone playback.
When I took my phone off-hook with the zero setting I didn't hear dial tone.
