Title: Ringing GV Obi home phone from mobile phone
Post by: marku on April 17, 2015, 08:15:33 PM
I have just setup up my obi202 with two different numbers in my home using two lines (wife and I each have old land line number as GV number; and different assigned Verizon mobile number to each GV account).  Both were old ATT land line numbers ported into Google Voice (GV).  Seems to be working fine once I checked box to forward calls to google chat.  I have left the "Forward to" box unchecked for the Verizon Mobile numbers as I do not want to use GV for voicemail for those mobile phones.

When my wife and I just went on separate trips, as we tried to call from our mobiles to our home obi phones to talk to our son on main GV number it just rolls directly to the GV voicemail without ringing the obi home phone.  I admit I must not understand something and this must be stupid question but how can we still continue to call the obi home phones when on road using our cell phones?  Do we have to Delete our Verizon number in the GV "Phones" tab in settings to disassociate these?  I do not want to goof anything up as it seems I had to input that mobile number (rescue or alternate?) to each GV number when I set things up.

Thanks in advance.

Hi:

Yes, you can do that.  Log into your Google Voice account on a computer's web browser, not on the phone.  Go here:  https://www.google.com/voice#phones

Click the Edit button for the mobile phone.  Click the "Show advanced settings" link.  Then, change "Voicemail access" to "no".
