Google Voice Config Update issue: Getting "False" Warning to upgrade device

<< < (3/4) > >>

smartpro:
Thanks for the info.

After manually writing  ver 4581 on the Old 202, I was able to upgrade ***6 to 3.0.1.4738 on the 202 and everything is working as expected.

The Old 202 was on my old office and had been about 1 year with out no use or internet.

My conclusion is that a specific version of a Firmware was the culprit of this problem.

Hello I just got a 202, Im getting a hostage firmware warning/ransom to be paid of $10.00. I got it used, Ive went to EXPERT Mode and read about downgrading the FW, in Expert more I put in the URL of supposedly older FW that works, I did a SAVE to unit at the bottom and rebooted...

Can someone be kind enough to point me where I can downgrade so I can use this with GV ?

Id really appreciate help ! Smiley thanks in advance

ProfTech:
You need to download either 4822 or 4972 from the link that someone posted on this board. Some say 4972 has a bug. I recently upgraded my daughters 200 to 4822 with no issue. Delete your Obi from the portal. Then disconnect your Obi from the internet and connect it directly to your computer using a crossover ethernet cable. Then manually install the firmware file you downloaded. Once you do this you can reconnect the Obi to the internet and put it on the Obitalk network, if you desire. You Should be able to use Google Voice if desired.

I gotchya !! I know exactly how to do what your talking about above ! :) Will delete it from my profile and then connect directly to it and Ill UL the FW to It Tao(above) gave a link for I think it was 4822 ! will try that and post back ! thnks :)

Upgrading firmware manually and then going back to using OBiTalk causes the same disruption to repeatedly occur. Happened 3x in my case, each about a month apart. OBi was disabled, showed triangle, indicated an incomplete firmware upgrade. Occurred even though Auto Provisioning was OFF.

Apparently GV can't be used without the OBiTalk configuration active. And after the first year, using OBiTalk requires the $10 Extended Warranty. Other option is to not use GV (only SIP), delete profile on OBiTalk, and uncheck the 3 Auto Provisioning boxes.

Anyone have a permanent fix that works?
