My callcentric free phone number got cancelled ...
jtan:
I got this message
"Moving forward, please note that there is a requirement to receive at least 1 inbound minute (from a PSTN Number) every 90 days on your number, otherwise it will be removed from your account again."
I usually received GV call on this callcentric number but it does not count as 1 minute inbound from PSTN number. Please suggest a method that I can call my callentric number once a month to fulfill that requirement ?
Thanks
LTN1:
Did CallCentric clarify to you that calls from GV numbers, cell phones or other VoIP numbers (which many people have these days) don't count? I'm not sure how they can tell...but perhaps Steve and others can confirm.

That's surprising; I've never heard of this happening, and it doesn't sound accurate to me. Calls forwarded by Google Voice to any telephone number are simply PSTN telephone calls. I suspect that the OP simply hadn't received a forwarded call on that DID in 90 days, but rather, was using some other method of receiving calls from GV, such as the plain vanilla XMPP forwarding to the OBi's chat client.
I've had two free CC DIDs since they first offered them. One gets used daily as a GV forwarding number. The other was mainly idle for a couple of years, with just an occasional fax call, until I recently converted it into a forwarding number. I've never been notified about discontinuance.
Moral of the story: just use it or lose it. Seems fair to me...it's free, after all.

You have a couple of options.
I call my Callcentric fax number periodically.
I own some domains and get telemarketing calls. My VOICE number for those calls is the fax number. Let the telemarketers place calls for me to keep it active.
I have a local fax machine that seems to work well on VOIP. I send a test page every so often to ensure the number gets cals and time.
You could pay for that number with callcentric, or Voip.Ms is also starting to offer fax numbers.

I call my two free numbers, and my free fax, every 90 days for just this reason. I have temporarily lost a number twice before when I did not. Nothing new here.
