Hi.

Last couple of days I was trying this instruction to connect a SIP phone to Obi202 and use Google voice on this IP phone.
http://www.obihai.com/docs/OBi-VoIP-Device-Attach-Legacy-IP-Phone-Workbook-v1-0.pdf

But it did not work and I was told this way does not work any more.

It is true?

drgeoff

I think it is not true.

I also think you don't understand that GV is not SIP based and hence won't work on a bog-standard IP phone even when the OBi202 is working as a SIP proxy.

Maybe.

But what this manual for?

Now I use simonics.com with IP phone and it works as I expect. But I would prefer Obitalk in this case. Am I on a wrong way?

If you haven't tried, use the 2nd option to setup your phone.

Quote:
On the IP phone, set-up the following parameters:
EXT1/Proxy = 192.168.1.20:5063 (ie: IP address of OBi202)

Yes, I also would prefer the second option and I did exactly the same...

I know some softphones won't register to an OBi2xx proxy. Maybe your IP phone won't work. You can test your OBi2xx setup by using the Phonerlite softphone on a Windows computer. Phonerlite works for me.

Download and install:
http://www.phoner.de/PhonerLiteSetup.exe
When you start Phonerlite I think a wizard will popup because no accounts are defined.
Proxy: 192.168.1.100:5063 (IP address and port of the SP trunk setup as a proxy)
Click right arrow.
User Name: (AuthUserName of OBi2xx)
Password (AuthPassword of OBi2xx)
Click right arrow.
Change Profile Name: OBi2xx
Click check mark
You should have a green circle indicating you are registered.
Dial a number and click the green phone symbol.
Click red phone symbol to hang up.

If your IP phone won't register, it will work if it's able to call without registration.

Edit:
I'm using firmware build 4822 on my OBi200.

For some magical reasons it worked now... At least cisco ip phone can connect to obi202

Bow I have to add the routes?

azrobert

X_InboundCallRoute of the SP trunk defined as a proxy:
{0:ph},{AuthUserName>(Msp1):sp1}

0 will ring OBi2xx phone port
Anything matching the ITSP A DigitMap will be routed to SP1
If you have additional trunks, you can setup routing for them

Yes! Thank you. Finally, it works.
But, one question. When I used Simon, cisco phone showed if it was a toll free number or wireless phone number. It showed the state a call was from.
Is it possible to do the same with Obitalk?

GV doesn't supply CNAM.
You have to do something like this:
https://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=3640.0

One day maybe I will try to get a new experience.

And the last question. On the Cisco phone, what is the best codec I can use with Obi202?
The manual says the Phone supports:
G.711 a-law and mu-law, G.722, G.729a, Internet Low Bitrate Codec (iLBC), and Internet Speech Audio Codec (iSAC)

I don't know what's mu-law. Is the same a u-law? The OBi202 should default to G711U (u-law). You can check in OBi Expert which codec is being used. While a call is in session, click Status then Call Status.

Edit:
I don't think the OBi202 supports the G722 HD codec.

mu-law is the proper pronunciation for what is usually written as u-law.  The 'u' is actually a Greek letter  which looks quite similar to a Roman 'u'.
