obi200 ringing customization?
jumbovideo:
Hi folks,
I'm new to obi200, and I've had it for about half a year. For SP1 I have freephoneline as my home phone. Is there a way to change the ringing when a certain caller dials into SP1? Because I don't have CID on my home phone and would like to avoid anonymous callers in general, would there be a way to change the ringing pattern or the pace so I can tell the difference?

I don't know what you mean by this. I believe FPL supplies CallerID. CallerID is required to get different ring tones. The OBi200 is not designed for this feature, but there is a hack you can use. It's resource intensive and requires a SP trunk definition for each different ringtone.
You can block anonymous (no callerid) calls.
Distinctive Ring by CallerID:
Each trunk has only one ring pattern, but you can loop the call out and back in on another trunk.

I will have to further research this as I'm not familiar with Obi syntax yet. I forgot to mention as well that I also have SP2 as Google voice and I've also read somewhere that you can manipulate incoming calls such that the obi will only recognize from your google's contact list and forward the rest to voicemail. I've been searching for this but could not find any resources regarding this information. So from this logic, would it be possible to forward inbound calls from SP1 to SP2 and then check whether to accept the call or not if it the phone number matches with my contact list in Google voice?

I fear you have been dreaming. There is no way that an OBi200 can access your Google Contacts list. The only way to have any numbers in a 200 is to put them there yourself. :(
But perhaps the controls available at https://www.google.com/voice#groups can meet your needs.

So what happens next when we put in the numbers ourselves? I only have about less than 10 unique callers who are important. Would there be any more to this?

Oh neat, thanks! So Callers would have to dial my GV # for these functions to work of course right? Would it be possible to forward my SP1 to GV to use these functions in a way?
