Now that I have my OBi1062 environment configured, what are people's strategies for sending and receiving SMS, other than Google Voice?

Google Voice integrates SMS capabilities through the website and through Google Hangouts (if you enable that). However, I do not think that you can get SMS through to the OBi 1000 devices, or through standard XMPP/SIP clients (correct me if wrong).

Furthermore, if you don't use Google Voice, what are the best, workable ways (i.e., VoIP providers and software or schemes) to send and receive SMS over SIP or XMPP? I tried Anveo, which works reliably when used via the e-mail gateway, but I have not gotten SIP SIMPLE or XMPP to work reliably with CounterPath's Bria software. Just trying to get it all to hang together.

I use this app for SMS via one of my VoIP.ms DIDs. Don't use it often (mostly use Hangouts) but when I do it seems to work well. But this isn't over SIP. I believe VoIP.ms uses an HTTP API.

I believe Vitelity also supports SMS. But I think Anveo has the most mature solution. If Anveo doesn't work for you then you may wish to look at using Asterisk.
