Synchronization of device configuration with OBiTalk and OBiExpert Configuration
cracker:
Simple question. How do you reboot the OBi100 from OBiTalk?
SteveInWA:
You don't, for security reasons (although nobody has reported any hacking of OBiTALK, limiting exposure to remotely rebooting the device is good security practice).
Pick up the phone attached to the OBi and key in ***9, then 1, to reboot, or just unplug and replug the power supply.
cracker:
Can one initiate a reboot from the device user interface or is this action also blocked for security reasons? I was hoping to reboot from a remote location over the web where the device and the phone are not present.
SteveInWA:
Complicated, techie nerd solutions:
Use a remote desktop service, remote into the LAN at that site and use the local web page interface to click the reboot link.Install a home automation product, like a Z-Wave switch, and use it to remotely power-cycle the device.
Easy, low-tech solution: get a human at that site to pick up the phone and dial ***9, then 1, or unplug and replug the power.
cracker:
I have settings in the OBiTalk call features configuration that did not propagate to the device (OBiTalk or SP1 Service Settings) when the device was rebooted. Per previous replies, this should have updated the device. What happened?
