Really upset that Obi didn't inform its users about this change.  I paid last night as I couldn't use the phone.  Let us know in advance, don't block the calls.

Brisk:
There's two ways to update firmware even if your device is out of warranty or you lack a support subscription.

The first is by dialing ***6, 1.

The second is by manually downloading the firmware file and updating. For example,
https://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=11256.msg73954#msg73954

Neither of these methods require the use of the Obitalk portal.

For what it's worth, I tried the ***6 method first, and it seems that it was unable to locate anything newer than what I had installed.   I then tried downloading and installing manually, and that worked very nicely.

I suspect that someone will eventually update something that will allow ***6 to work, but as of now I think it's not pointing to a newer update.

Guys, there are already 20 or so discussions on this topic.

Read and follow the instructions here:  http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=11384.0

Scotty3:
Thanks much, Steve.  After years of use, I suddenly couldn't make/get calls due to "not being configured" without any notification.   Attempts to reconfigure on the Obitalk site got me an endless loop, and a message saying that I might need to pay $10 for "Premium" support, which is really any support at all.  Thanks to you, the firmware update did the trick.  Saved me $10 and the hassle of dealing with tech support.  it seems clear to me that Obi did this deliberately to get $10 from all users rather than notify us to update firmware.  Thanks again to you and any others who contributed.   :)
