Tutorial on how to setup GV using the web GUI console (not OBi online)

You are not following the instructions. IF you did, it would update your device to firmware build 2886, not 2872. Here is the direct link to build 2886: http://fw.obihai.com/OBi110-1-3-0-2886.fw

In can certainly understand the frustration of solving this problem many times over! Sorry about that.
I'd think though, if it were a little more clear which firmware were necessary (not the 2872 mentioned at the link above), my first google search which led me to your original post, would have done the trick and spared this thread and the 2+ hours of trial and error before starting the thread.
Regardless of that, thanks for your help. It works!

Yes, the official firmware update web page has an incorrect, outdated written description of the firmware build on it, but the actual build that it downloads should be 2886.
Glad to hear that it's working now.
