i am just getting started.  My phone number is currently with Time Warner Cable. I need to become a Cord Cutter and reduce my monthly bills.  I need to port my number so i can leave TWC except internet service.

I went to my local store and found they had 2 cheap pre-paid phones.

they are Net 10 model LG441G  and Tracfone model Alcatel A463G.  Both phones are $4.99 - like i said CHEAP.

My questions are:
 1.  will they work for the porting away from TWC?
 2.  do they have required minutes or do I need to buy minutes to make this work?
 3.  should i look for another cheap option?

I have read a lot of the post on this board and was hoping these CHEAPER phones would work.
Thanks

1:  Yes
2:  Read the package.  It's almost certain that you will have to buy whatever minimum amount of calling minutes they sell; for example, $10 worth
3:  It's 'murica; you can do what you wish.
