Google Voice, Callcentric, G.729, one-way audio

I'm pretty sure I'm seeing the problem described here:

on an occasional basis. Is anyone else experiencing this problem, and if so, what have you done to resolve it? Any suggestions, apart from not forwarding GV calls through a CC number?

Yes, I have experienced it on occasion. Very sporadic so hard to troubleshoot. Additional post by carlm with more input from Callcentric:

BTW, as far as I know, Google Voice only uses G.711, not G.729. As Taoman said, these issues are very hard to troubleshoot, as they're usually caused by a CODEC mismatch between two of the carriers in the call path (something fails when those two carriers negotiate the CODEC to use, during the call).

Thanks for the feedback, guys. Nice to know I'm not alone. From the dslreports thread, it looks like they are slowly zeroing in on the root cause. It does seem that major carriers would (or at least should) have the ability to get to the bottom of this sort of problem in a time-frame that spans less than several weeks, but as you both note, transient problems are inherently difficult to troubleshoot.

Have you checked out codec mismatch causing one-way audio and how to get around it in the thread
