Re-directing Anonymous Calls

<< < (2/5) > >>

Diana:
Afterfurther testing, I found out why the calls kept going to voice mail of the Google Voice Number of my Primary Line (GV #1).  Apparently after transferring the call, GV #1 some is still in place and that that VM pickups the call and you hear the GV #1 announcement.  The calls do get transferred, via my SP2 SIP Account (VOIP.ms), from GV #1 to GV #2 and shows up in the call log of GV #2, i.e, the VOIP.ms Number is what shows up in the GV #2 log.

Once I enable "Do Not Disturb" on the latter GV Number (GV #2), the Voice Mail of this GV #2 kicks in immediately and callers does not get any ring tones whatsoever when they call the primary GV Number (GV #1)!!!  This is exactly how I want it to appear to unknown/blocked numbers.

Thanks again for you help RonR!!

RonR:
You cannot forward calls to your own Google Voice number using the trunk that is that number.  It's the same as calling your own Google Voice number : you end up checking your Google Voice voicemail.  It's the nature of the beast when it comes to Google Voice (it's not the OBi's doing).  If you have two different Google Voice accounts (i.e. one on SP1 and another on SP2), SP1 can call SP2 and vice-versa.

Once I enable "Do Not Disturb" ...

Don't enable Do Not Disturb or Call Forwarding in the OBi on any SP1, SP2, or LINE Port trunks that have any InboundCallRoute rules (other than ph) as there's a bug in the OBi that causes all InboundCallRoute rules to be ignored if you do.  In the case of Call Forwarding, all your blocked anonymous calls will be forwarded to your forwarding number instead of being blocked.

Couple of things:

1) I have two different GV accounts with two different GV Numbers (GV #1 and GV #2)

2) I enable the Do Not Disturb within he Voice Settings of the Google Voice account associated with GV #2, not the OBi110.  You have sensitize us to the pitfalls of engaging it in the OBi110 itself  ;D

3) VOIP.ms is setup on SP2 and is used primarily for e911, so the outgoing calls are going out on a separate trunk than the incoming GV call.

I kept going back and editing my post while you were typing, so it might have been confusing.  Let me know if what I did was correct....it seems to be working the way I envision it to work.

Just for clarification...

The problem wasn't the call going out on the same trunk as the incoming call.  The problem (Google Voice considers it a feature) is that you can't call your own Google Voice number from your Google Voice number and do anything other than check voicemail.  If that's what you were already aware of, my apology for stating it again.
