the *96 barge in works great, but I havent been able to get it to work with the programmable keys.

Open to any intercom type solution that works the same way with a programmable key

kayrjay:
My understanding is that you can only barge into a call that has been placed/is running on the OBITalk network, and not a call placed via a third-party VOIP service.  Oh well ...

jentzd:
*96 barge in is definitely via the obi network, so to/from obi phones only. With the phone on hook feature it would really only make sense for 1022 1032 1062.

but, with respect to that dialling phone, while I haven't got too advanced into auto attendant aa stuff, but couldnt you use a non obi phone to get to the aa, send it some codes, then have the aa dial an obi phone on the obi network and get back barge in?

kayrjay:
Interesting idea ... of course I wouldn't want the outside caller to know that the redirection of the call was happening, and without having to respond to the "attendant".   So, if I could make it entirely automatic and transparent, that would be cool.

Don't have time just now to test it, so let me know if you do try it out!

I think have a solution for your barge-in with a Program Key. I only own a single OBi1032, so I couldn't test barge-in. I defined a Program Key to set DND and then call an OBi110. I used OBi Expert to define a Program Key like this:

IP Phone -> Programmable Keys -> Key x
Function: Speed Dial
Service: Blank
Number: *78**9xxxxxxxxx

Just change *78 to *96 and use the destination OBi number after the **9
