My Google voice service stopped working today on all numbers and I see
"Backing Off : TCP connection to 125.206.125.74 failed" on all numbers
Can someone please assist

thanks

Try calling the Obitalk echo number by dialling **9 222 222 222.  Does that work?

drgeoff

If you have not done so already you can try rebooting your router and after it has settled down, reboot (=power cycle) your 202.

If that does not work, then unless you know that you or someone else has been changing the OBi's settings or your internet connection, I'd be inclined to wait a few hours to see if the  problem fixes itself (in reality by someone else) or more people start reporting the same issue.

hgroth

I already rebooted the OBI and my router and I also tried to reconnect
my Google account and it still wont work

Since my last post I found that 125.206.125.74 is allocated to NTT Japan.

125.206.125.74 is a Google server

How do you come to that conclusion? The ip address you listed is located in Japan and assigned to NTT Communications Corporation. I doubt that's a "Google server."

For instance, I connect to 74.125.39.41 which is assigned to Google and located in Mountain View, CA which is exactly what you would expect.

Seems to be some similarity to https://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=12888.msg82706#msg82706.  No satisfactory conclusion reported there.

Indeed. I was going to ask you if you had any ideas on this issue?

All I can think of is a DNS issue but it seems unlikely multiple people would suddenly start having local DNS issues.

drgeoff

Yes, DNS is the first thing that comes to mind.  In that other thread SteveInWA advised using Google's own DNS servers, 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.

ISTR that OpenDNS is known to give problems with GoogleVoice.

Similar problem was happening here. Device had not been updated for a long time.

I updated the firmware to version 3-2-1-5757 and the problem appears to be fixed.

SteveInWA

This discussion thread is obsolete.  The current product line's firmware was updated to fix the issue.  The discontinued 100 series will not be updated.

honestly though if they came out with new models that were really innovative and had extra features those people would instantly buy those regardless of having older versions. Innovation wins every time, stop innovating and die.

What innovations and extra features can you suggest that are technically possible given that an ATA or IP phone is only one cog in a large system?  IMO OBi's products are already streets ahead of anything else in the same market segments.

I had the same problem and solution. Thank you for the post.

My OBi100 started experiencing similar issue last week.
Did you update the firmware for OBi100? I thought OBi100 is no longer supported.
May I know how you update the firmware?
I don't see any yellow triangle after logging into OBiTALK. I also tried to dial *** 6. I also tried manual update  http://fw.obihai.com/OBi-latest.fw. Nevertheless, all these failed...

Are there other ways besides Simonics GVGW or OBi200?

The poster above your post updated an OBi 200 series device.  There is no such fix for the 100 series.  Just pick one of the two alternative solutions already discussed endlessly here:  buy a new OBi 200 series product or use GVGW.

Got it, sorry for posting at the wrong place. I opened too many threads and lost track  :P
Nevertheless, thanks for the recommendation. By the way, what do you think of the possibility that OBIHAI may also end their support on OBi200 in next couple years?

Anything is possible.  Who two years before the election thought that the Donald could win?

I'd be more worried about Obihai going out of business at some future date.

SteveInWA

Who'da thunk that the Cubs would win the World Series, so yeah, there's no way to predict.  But that's not the point.  The point that has been made, over and over, is that these are inexpensive consumer electronics widgets.  They have a lifecycle of a few years, before the company introduces new models.  All companies do this.  Few support their products past the warranty time, and most stop providing firmware updates after the second year or so.

This should not be an important deciding factor when buying a current OBi ATA.
