I've seen this is threads from 2012 - but this morning after making a few calls I began getting "you are not connected" errors - on obitalk I see

Backing Off :
TCP connection to 125.69.125.74 failed

Per the suggestions in the forums I did  ***6 (no updates available)
And I removed and reset our SP1 and SP2 GV entries

No change... :-(

Submitted ticket to support and am waiting for an answer

All Fixed - as per the posts below - I moved the DNS servers and bingo I was up and running  ;D

I have the same problem but I see no replies to your post and don't know what DNS you moved to fix the issue.  Can you share some of your info so I can do the same thing here?

PeterFales

I tried all the DNS suggestions without success.  But a friend suggested this, which worked:

Log ointo Gmail for each of your Google Voice accounts and then click on:

https://accounts.google.com/DisplayUnlockCaptcha

Then reboot the OBi.   Apparently, you need  to tell Google that a "new device" wants to connect.

mgmcomm

That did not help in my case.  Any other ideas out there to solve this?

mgmcomm

Can someone explain to me what DNS I need to move to solve this problem?  My device just suddenly stopped working after working great for almost a year.

^^Read the other posts about this issue.. There's dozens of them.

If your device is a 200 series, do a firmware update.  If 100 series then your options includes using simonics gateway, a pbx, or upgrading to the 200 series ($6, free but time consuming, not so free, respectively).

Changing DNS servers is not the fix.

Thanks for making this all clear.  That post wasn't on google search results when I first began searching for a solution.  Since I have an Obi100 guess I am just dead in the water since they will not be issuing firmware updates for us.  I don't want to make an even more complex setup using a 3rd party site to just to keep using this thing so I think I am going to finally upgrade to a more current model.

Comodo's DNS are working fine for now.  You can use them and hopefully a sale on the 2XX's will pop up before they stop working.

Get a clue.  This has been explained endlessly.  Changing DNS will not fix this problem.  AND, yes, the OBi 200 series are on sale right now.

I got a clue smart guy.

Google will eventually close that hole.  That is why I am asking that you stop recommending a DNS change as a "fix".  It is not a true solution.

Jackson

Did you see what I said?

And by sale I meant lower that the current $49.99 price that Amazon, NewEgg and others are offering.

Try B&H Photo.  bhphoto.com for about $40.

I tried there and its more like $50

Is there some sort of secret promotion code I need to use to get a better price?  I just want something that costs a bit like my old obi100 and does a single phone line on a single google voice number.  Not so happy to have to pay for features and stuff I do not need for basic home use.  I use OBI+google because I am not rich...actually quite poor as I have a very fixed income I have to live on.  $50 is not much for most of you but its a serious budget issue for me as it means $50 less for food for the family.

I am thinking that is some sort of Black Friday thing does not popup soon I will have to go with the less convenient simonics solution.  Right now there seem to be no places yet offering black friday sales but maybe that internet monday sale thing everyone talks about will yield something.

You were late.

QuoteRE: B&H Order # 1047834754

You recently placed an order for 1 of the Obihai Technology OBi200 VoIP Phone Adapter with T.38 Fax Connection B&H # OBI200.

We are happy to inform you that we will be lowering this price for you to $34.99 and issuing a refund for the price difference back to your original form of payment.

Please allow 3-5 business days for the refund to be processed.

Thank you for choosing B&H, we appreciate your business. Have a wonderful weekend!

This guy's DNS also works fine BTW.  Don't be put off by the location.

Finally came across a sale on newegg using promotion code EMCBBCH26. Says valid until 9/29 I think and it is $15 off for a total price of $34.99 out the door before shipping.  Its more than IU wanted to pay but its what I am going with.  good luck to all the other abandoned obi100 users.

Promocode for me was listed right below the item title.

It's $37.44 at NE with the code.

My OBi100 ended up costing me 69ยข/month, got no complaints.  Hopefully I'll get a few years out of the OB1200.  With the extra slots I'm going to try this.
