Well, I signed up with the Simonics for my Obi110 and it appears to be working like normal.  I just hope ObiHai does not insert another sabotage later down the road to break it again.

There's nothing left for them to sabotage :) Your connection to simonics uses the standard sip protocol.  If you're still connected to obitalk then yes, the cloud can send a lightning strike down.  I can't find a thread on it at the moment, but in a nutshell to disconnect from the portal.

1) Login to the local ip of the obi device
2) Under system management/ auto provisioning, uncheck the default box for METHOD for each of the following;

a) Auto Firmware Update
b) LUA Script Update
c) ITSP Provisioning
d) OBiTalk Provisioning

3) Change method value to disabled then click save at the bottom.

4) Under voice services, Obitalk Service, Uncheck the default box in the enable row, then uncheck the box under value.

This should effectively severe all ties with obitalk portal. About the only benefit I can see is the portal does make it easy to push config settings.

OK, so as OBihai has announced the OBi100 & OBi110 are obsolete, and it is often repeated here in the forums, but then...

Why does OBihai still show it in their list of current products:
http://www.obihai.com/product-primer

Complete with a link to "Buy on Amazon" where it is still available for purchase?

Yes my OBi110 developed the backing off error today.  I went with the Simonics gateway for now to get it back up and running.  Guess I'll have to get a OBi200, but I don't relish going through all the necessary configuration I did to block the telemarketers. :-(

One if the reasons I did not upgrade earlier is because OBihai STILL shows it as a current model and STILL available for purchase... so how can it be obsolete?

This has been answered several times.

The listing you see on Amazon is being sold by a third party, who somehow acquired a batch of old stock, and is now selling it.  Amazon sellers like Obihai have no control over Amazon's policy of lumping all sellers of a product into one listing (you'll typically see this with commodity Chinese stuff that people buy from Alibaba wholesale and then make a few bucks by selling the same thing as a half-dozen other sellers on Amazon).

It has no bearing whatsoever on the status of the 100/110 products, which are, in fact, end-of-life, no longer produced, sold, nor supported by Obihai.

Hi,
My Obi 100 also stopped working today. :-[ It shows the backing off error. I have tried all your suggestions to no avail. Maybe it will come back on like a year ago.  ;)
Thanks.

Tell me your post is satire, right?  You're kidding, right?  There are hundreds of posts already discussing this.
