Simonics gateway or Google Chat down???
GPz1100:
Try adding a "x1" or "x2" (without the quotes) to the end of your simonics username.

You mean on the softphone? Why would this help?
BTW, I just deauthorized and reauthorized, deleted the SP, added it back in with the new password, obi dash page shows "registered".... made a call.... still ERROR !!

Update:
Now working again on both my and other party's Obi/GV/Simonics.
While I deauthorized and reconfigured, the other party did absolutely nothing but wait.
I read a post on here from years ago which talked about a Gtalk outage yielding the same symptoms. I am still suspecting something along those lines, either with Google or Simonics that may have only affected a portion of the user accounts for a limited period of time.
I would still like to hear any relevant feedback from others who may be aware of anything recent to explain this.
Thanks

It's Google Voice. It's free. This may be one of those cases where you get what you pay for. If you need or desire real service you may want to use a different ITSP. I can recommend Callcentric and Flowroute. I use GV / Simonics myself but if it fails I have Flowroute as my backup. Eventually I will take GV out of the picture. EDIT If you're looking for free to use with your relative it is available from Callcentric. I've used it for years with my kids. 1 little gotcha regarding the use of the "flash" button on your phones but I can live with it since I know about it.

Good morning,
We did not experience any system-level outage recently. A SIP 500 error indicates that your SIP connection to GVGW was OK but the second leg (GVGW to Google) was disconnected on your account. Accounts get disconnected from time to time for a few reasons. Sometimes one of Google's talk servers goes away (maintenance, error, network issue, etc.) and the accounts logged in to that server have to reconnect. To avoid a traffic flood on our systems this is done in batches. Any time your SIP device is registered your GV account is marked to be logged in, and if it is logged out, the system continually tries to re-login until it succeeds.
Because the GVGW is a shared resource you may have longer delays in this kind of situation than when your Obi is connecting to GV directly (it is only one account on one device).
