Avaya 9650 VoiP phone -- Anyone tried connecting to an Obi?

I'd like to connect my Obi to a VoiP phone, but don't want to spend $150 trying this with an OBi1022.  There are some affordable "used" VoiP phones on eBay, and I thought the Avaya 9650 would be a safe name brand to try.

Anyone else connect an non-Obi VoiP phone to their Obi successfully?

You haven't said what OBi you have.  Nor have you said why you want to connect an IP phone to your OBi.

The primary use of an OBi ATA is to convert a POTS type analogue phone into an IP phone.  It is possible to connect a standard SIP IP phone to an OBi ATA but what functionality are you aiming to achieve?
