Can I still use my Obi100? "End of Life" status - SOLVED

I'm trying to figure out if my Obi100 got fried.

My Obi100 was working great with VOIP.MS on SP1 and Google Voice on SP2 but neither since yesterday.  It got hot when it was sitting on the router (didn't mean to do that). I turned it off and let it cool down.

In the obitalk.com web portal it says:

"The OBi100 and OBi110 has reached it's end of life (EOL) status and are no longer supported.
Please upgrade to a more recent OBi device to receive support."

Does this mean I can't register any SIP now?  VOIP.MS on SIP 1 says "Offline" yet everything is set ok.

Google Voice was also working ok even with the changes.  I'm using gvgw.simonics.com passthrough.  I get a dialtone but can't recieve calls. Placing a call I get the three beeps and message "...has not received a response from the service provider"

Should a site like VOIP.MS still work on an Obi100?  I'm trying to figure out if my Obi100 got fried.

thx

Yes a standard SIP ITSP such as voip.ms should still work.  The EOL status does not affect your OBi100's ability to be configured via the portal or via its onboard web server to work as a SIP ATA.

Dial **9 222 222 222. Does that reach the echo test server man's voice saying "Welcome to Obitalk ..." ?

thanks, I was getting  "there is no service available..."  but I fixed it!

Somehow the DNSServer1 and DNSServer2 had changed!  It had changed from 4.2.2.2  and 4.2.2.1  to 107.181.174.127  and 107.181.161.226

Why would it change? and who is that IP?

Use either of these DNS pairs.  Both are high-performance, and neither will produce any phony re-directs to ad-supported sites:

Google Public DNS:  8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Quad9 DNS (new consortium of security companies partnering with IBM to provide a highly secure DNS that blocks known security exposures:  9.9.9.9
