Where is the promised OBi1000 fix since Google Voice dropped XMPP support?

Currently I have to dial out via voicemail or I can't hear the called party.  Where is the fix for the OBi1000 phones?

In a thread on Goole regarding XMPP it was reported that "all current OBiTALK products will continue to function" https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/voice/NYRy5U31o98.

Here on the forum it was reported on April 28, 2018 that "the solution is now rolling out, via a firmware update to all current OBiTALK products" https://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=13824.0.

Yet the latest version for the OBi1000 phones are from 2017, 5-0-8-4643.fw and 5-1-8-4643.fw  https://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=12455.new.

The 1000 series phones' firmware was also updated to support Google Voice via SIP.

The current firmware build is 5.1.7 (Build: 4666EX.1311)

Please provide a link to this version.

The OBi should automatically upgrade to that version if you delete it off of the OBiTALK dashboard entirely, then restore the phone to factory defaults by keying in ***8 then 1, and finally, re-add it to the dashboard and re-configure Google Voice.  It can't be done correctly any other way.

I reset the phone and removed it from the Obi portal on Tuesday - it didn't update the firmware.  The web interface reports 5.1.8 (Build: 4643.1311).   Any other idea how to make this happen?  Having to place outgoing calls via voice mail (so I can hear the called party) is a hassle.

You mention that 5.1.7 (Build: 4666EX.1311) is the latest, if 5.1.7 is newer than 5.1.8 thats one messed up numbering scheme.

Yes, firmware management has always been completely FUBAR, and nobody here has a definitive firmware version list, nor have release notes been published in years.

When I posted my previous reply, I was basing it on a 1022 that is only running Callcentric.  I just now plugged in my 1032, which is running CC and three Google Voice numbers.  Its firmware is 5.1.11 (Build: 4858EX.1311)

When you removed your phone from the OBiTALK portal, did you also restore the phone to factory defaults (two methods:  key in ***8 then 1#, or by holding down the Home and Back keys and then powering it on per https://www.obitalk.com/info/faq/obi-ip-phone/phn-factory-reset ).

If you did not do that specific task, then I suggest removing the device from your OBiTALK portal, wait about 5 minutes, then restore it to factory defaults, and then re-add it to the portal.  Don't make any custom configuration changes.  Wait until it finishes rebooting (probably more than once), then add a Google Voice number, wait some more, until it says "Connected" status, and finally, check the FW build again.

Tried the process again and it worked, thanks for the suggestion.  My 1032 is running 5.1.11 (Build: 4858EX.1311) and the best thing it that the issue of not being able to hear the called party is resolved.

Perhaps it's just me, but having to go through this process to upgrade the phone is just crazy :P !

FYI: the below link to this version of the software is on the 'Auto Provisioning' page under 'FirmwareURL'

It would be very nice to have a thread that shows all fw release dates with links to notes...

Interesting that if you navigate to http://fw.obihai.com  you get redirected to a post that seems to have started with this idea in mind.    http://www.obitalk.com/forum/index.php?topic=9.0

The original post was in 2010.  An update posted in 2015. At this rate  I guess we can expect the next post with updates in two years????  Probably the idea of a customer service oriented employee whose manager nixed it, or they left and no one else picked up the idea.

As a side note, I was on a call with work last week and I think my 1032 updated it's firmware automatically during the call and then rebooted.    After that the firmware was at 5.1.11 (Build 4858EX.1311)   Maybe this or a future build will someone recognize when a call is in progress and postpone the reboot until the call terminates.

I disagree. Hardware firmware should not be found in forum posts. Each device has a web page, this page should have permanent links to current firmware.  This has been an annoyance since the beginning of Obihai. Hopefully Polycom will clean this up.
