Distributing Obi capabilities to other phone jacks in the house

One the first phone is set up, will all the other connect phone jacks become live for additional phones ?

Does the landline provider have to be disconnected in order for this to work properly and safely?

Yes and must respectively. You risk killing the OBi's PHONE port if not properly disconnected.
