Either you misunderstood what you were told by your cable company, or they are full of shit. FCC regulations require that they permit your number to be ported out to any carrier that can accept the number.
Anyhow, I'd recommend you look at Dialpad and Ringcentral for business-class phone service. Both will work with OBiTALK devices.
