Is the VVX 250 OBi Edition 6.4.0.2 firmware XML available here? I only found links to 6.3.1.1

No, Poly doesn't post firmware updates for the VVX series.  You'd have to contact them for support.

I realize this is an old post, but I was searching for the same info and I have something to add.

The Obitalk URL for 6.4.0.2 is:

I tested the 6.4.0.2 link on a VVX 350 and it worked as expected. 

I also found what I believe is a working URL for the XML file for 6.4.1.0 (the latest version per Polycom's site)...I did not test this one yet.

So I pointed a VVX 250 to the google URL and it worked, and then auto updated to version 6.4.1.1 which is apparently now the latest version.

Also, it wasn't clear to me initially but the VVX phones do NOT work on the free version of Google Voice, only the paid gsuite version.  So now my dreams are crushed, oh well.

I've explained that limitation several times on this forum.  The only products that will work with consumer Google Voice are the 200, 1000 (now discontinued) and the 2000 series.

Yeah...the information is out there, it's just fuzzy if you look at the marketing information.  They just say "Google Voice" in many places and don't mention gsuite.  I hadn't combed through the forums to see it stated anywhere, I saw a VVX OBi edition pop up on Amazon that piqued my interest.  I made the assumption that if it supported OBi firmware it would work with any service.  There is a FAQ somewhere on the Polycom site that does spell this out also.  Seems to be purely a business decision on their part, oh well.

Another thing to watch out for with the VVX phones is that many sellers on Ebay are selling phones that are associated with a service provider on the Polycom ZTP server.  I got a great deal on a VVX 350, it was brand new in the box, but then I booted it up and it came up as extension 201 and had dial tone.  Apparently someone skipped out on their contract.

Even if you override ZTP and load the OBi firmware onto the phone, the OBi firmware still checks in with ZTP and recognizes that the phone is mapped to that provider and will not allow you to attempt to register it with Google.  So, just saying this as a warning to anyone else like me that thought you could buy a cheap VVX phone, load the OBi firmware and go to town using it on consumer Google Voice, it's not gonna happen.

This thread has been super helpful to me, so I registered to let you all know what I figured out.

I have VVX-450s and VVX-250s that I'm setting up with G Suite Google Voice.

They all had the default Poly firmware so I needed to convert them to OBi, and I wanted the latest version and the background updating enabled. 6.4.1.1 is the latest version, but I believe you can only get this version via automatic updates. If you don't enable automatic updates, you may be stuck at 6.4.1.0. I haven't tried though.

First step was to login to phone and update to 6.4.0.2 OBi firmware. Note that the Poly firmware requires an https login, otherwise you'll get an error.

Updating firmware to 6.4.0.2 is done as described above using https://www.obitalk.com/VVX-OE/6.4.0.2/release.xml

At this point there is no need to use the 6.4.1.0 but you can if you want to. https://www.obitalk.com/VVX-OE/6.4.1.0/release.xml doesn't seem to work though. And while https://www.obitalk.com/VVX-OE/6.4.1.1/release.xml does work, the phone got stuck in an endless reboot cycle so I wouldn't use that.

Once the phone restarts (several times) you will log in again using the IP address. At this point you have to use http, if you try to use https you'll get an error. The default username/password is admin/admin.

Now you have to enable the background updating. This requires a .fw file, and will not work with a .xml file or a .sip.ld file. (If you do want background updating disabled, go here to get the .sip.ld file https://support.polycom.com/content/support/north-america/usa/en/support/voice/business-ip-phones/vvx450-obi-edition.html)

Once logged in to the phone, go to System Management -> Auto Provisioning.

Uncheck the Method field and set it to System Start. Uncheck the FirmwareURL field and paste this URL: https://downloads.polycom.com/voice/obi/6-4-1-0/,bgu-conv=enable

Make sure to include the ",bgu-conv=enable" as this is what tells the phone to enable background updating for future firmware updates. (And the comma is important!)

Hit Submit to save the changes. You can reload that page to make sure the changes are saved.

Click Reboot in the upper right of the browser window. The phone will reboot at least 2-3 times. Once to update to 6.4.1.1, once to enable background updating (the splash screen will say "Conversion in progress, do not power off!"). Eventually once it stops rebooting, you can log in to the phone again and check the Status -> System Status page to see the firmware is 6.4.1.1 and the BackgroundUpdate field says "Enabled".

I would strongly recommend against adding the firmware update string in the post above.  I tested it on a VVX 450 phone, and, after installing 6.4.1.1 it bricked it.

I had previously been advised by Poly support to NOT change the firmware update parameters, and now it's apparent why that was good advice.

Aside from that, if you're going to use the phones with G Suite Google Voice, when you add the phone to your account, it will auto-provision the phone.
