OBiTALK Portal Account using Russian Email Address

A friend's OBiTALK Portal account recently started rejecting the existing password and password resets. An OBi tech support person said the Russian email address used for the OBiTALK Portal account was restricted and the Portal account was deactivated. The solution was to create a new OBiTALK Portal account and configured the OBi device in the new Portal account.

Since this was not my email address, I can't say if the owner was notified of the account deactivation. I had to find out the hard way.
