I am looking around for the data sheets for the Obi2062, Obi2162, and Obi2182, so I can understand what is new. Does anyone have the Obi2062 and Obi2162 data sheets? Only the Obi2182 data sheet is on the website.

Specifically I am looking for what codecs the Obi2062 and Obi2162 support, and what the hardware features are. It would also be nice to get a rundown of what has changed since the Obi1000 series phones.

The ObiPhone Admin Guide is for both the 1000 and the 2000 series.  Pages 14 and 15 have the specs of all 6 models.

The codecs will be the same in all 2000 series.

Thank you.

However, I checked the guide https://www.obitalk.com/info/documents/admin_guide/OBiPhoneAdminGuide.pdf and it leaves out a few points:

The codecs listed are "High Quality Voice Encoding Using G.711, G.726, G.729, G.722, iLBC, and OPUS Algorithms" (page 20). There is no mention of AMR-WB. However, the Poly Obi2182 datasheet calls out AMR-WB. So, what is it for the different devices?

The admin guide refers to the Obi2000e sidecar for Obi2000 phones, but I cannot find anywhere to buy it online. Is it really a thing, or is it a vaporware product?

Has anyone seen AMR-WB or Opus negotiated and used "in the wild" between an Obi phone and any non-Obi device?

I got one of each phone to compare and contrast.

As of now, Amazon's pricing is OBi2062 $79.97, OBi2162 $89.97, and OBi2182 $99.97. When I got them, OBi2062 was $69.97 and OBi2162 was $79.97.

The OBi2062 and OBi2162 look exactly the same. They are dark gray/charcoal in color, and the handset cord is also dark gray/charcoal, with part number 3522-44500001R. They have logos on the top left of the screen: "OBi2062" and "OBi2162", respectively. There are three physical buttons to the left of the screen, and three physical buttons to the right of the screen. The OBi2182 has the exact same dimensions, but different buttons and styling. Specifically, there are six physical buttons to the left of the screen, and six physical buttons to the right of the screen. The OBi2182 is jet black and has the Polycom circular logo (not Poly) in the top-middle, right below the message waiting indicator light. The handset cord is also jet black, with part number 3522-00610002R.

Functionally, the only difference I can perceive between the OBi2062 and OBi2162 is that the OBi2062 does not support Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, while those features are built in to the OBi2162. In the OBi2062 Settings screen, WiFi and Bluetooth say "Not Available". It should work with the OBi dongles, but with a $10 difference, it is clearly cheaper just to get the OBi2162 in the first place. The admin guide says that the OBi2062 supports Bluetooth but that is not my experience; the admin guide appears to be wrong. OBi2162 supports both Bluetooth (at least 4.0) and Wi-Fi 802.11ac dual-band: it is detecting both 2.4GHz and 5GHz SSIDs. The firmware on both OBi2062 and OBi2162 is 6.2.3 (Build: 4907.1311).

Functionally, the only difference I can perceive between the OBi2162 and the OBi2182 is that the OBi2182 has 12 side buttons (6 + 6) instead of 6 side buttons (3 + 3). All three products support six service providers and two codec profiles. The software on OBi2182 is 6.2.3 (Build: 4946.1311) but I do not perceive a difference between that and the ones on the OBi2062 and OBi2162. The hardware version reported for all three phones is 1.0.

The backsides of all three OBi2000 series models are the same.

On all three phones, the codecs supported appear to be: G.711μ (PCMU), G.711a (PCMA), G.729, G.726 R32 R16 R24 R40, iLBC, G.722, and Opus. I do not see AMR-WB or G.722.2 anywhere.

The power supplies for all three units are the same: AOEM Power Adaptor ADS012T-W120100, universal input, DC output 12V⎓1.0A.
