Although a simple solution.

I bought a few 1062's on Amazon (Sold by Obi). The 3rd one was DOA. I plugged it in and only got the RED Message waiting LED on constantly. NO screen at all. I tried power cycling it and even swapped out the power supply.

I then did a quick Google search and found a hard reset which required holding the HOME and BACK buttons and power cycling.

That solved it and it booted correctly.

I saw no indications that the phone had been used before.

I just wanted to document this for others in case the have the same issue.

Good to know. Thanks.

How do you like using the 1062s? I've thought about buying them from time to time, especially when the prices dropped below $100 in the past year. Any quality difference as compared to use phones connected to an OBi200 series?

I have one at home since they came out, but had to buy 3 to use in a neighbors business.

The User Manual is about the size of War and Peace. There are a lot of things I would like to do with the phones but don't have much time to test and play.

I set up the phone for one guy and the next day I asked him how he liked it. He said he didn't (although he was kind of kidding). His complaint was that the phone didn't have that hollow sound and there was no hiss. It was so silent when the caller paused that he thought they had hung up.

With the Voip service I use (Voip.Ms) I offloaded some of the features to their service. For example, they have music on hold. I do like the ability to easily change ring tones and use some of my photos for the background image. It is not the easiest thing to add ringtones or photos to the phone though.

Having Bluetooth and Wifi builtin is great, however it is only 2.4 ghz.

I also like that once you configure the 8 feature buttons at the bottom, you can print (from the Obi site) the labels for hose buttons. That was a nice touch.

It would be nice to be able to have a silent ringtone (although I see someone posted how it might be done), but is not built in. The phones at that office have personal lines for each phone and also the common inbound office line. That line is answered elsewhere unless the other people are gone in which case they could enable the ringer on the common line.

The common line on multiple phones is a 'Ring Group' in Voip.Ms configs.
