Can Google Voice receive silent/ping SMS?

There is a way to send silent SMS to a mobile phone number and such SMS does not alert the receiver of that SMS. In some nations, authorities are allowed to use such SMS to locate suspects or missing children or whatever reasons.

What happens when such a message is sent to a Google Voice number not connected to a mobile number?

All SMS sent to my Google Phone number are emailed to my gmail address.

I think this would be really important especially in countries where kidnapping is widespread.

Sometimes I don't have them forwarded to email or get notifications. Until I go into the voice app and manually refreshed it.
