That's already done, thanks, I deleted the post.
However it did not help anything, exactly the same problem as before- call disconnected upon establishing connection. What apparently remains is the ATT's u verse 3600HGV gateway hack. Wish me luck. ::)

YES!!  :) :)
It is working now.

Forget ATT U verse DSL customer service. They were absolutely not able to help me with the 3600HGW 2wiregateway and after a while just hung up. No surprise here.
Here is what has to be done , as I found out myself by trial and error :
1. Put into your browser window the IP address on the bottom of the gateway.( For some reason , it did not work from IE 9, just from Chrome  ::))
You get to 2 wire home page, click on gateway icon then > services>voice > status> input password(see below)> line. Click on RING.  You will get a message configured.(It will still show line inactive, do not let you confuse by that ).
Password: The default password for the gateway is printed on the bottom as 'system password". You must change it immediately. Do it right in the beginning.

2.I removed the *1688 from the Digitmap, but it would not work, neither with checked or unchecked Obi settings, the same problem as before- disconnect after establishing connection.So I had to leave it there.
Which means that I will have to dial  **2*1688xxxxx..... whenever I want to use Localphone, unless somebody has a better idea. ::)

I still have to check international dialling, but the people would kill me at this time of the day... :P
Thanks to RonR and Stewart for info. Thanks also to Mark from Localphone CS for the *1688 tip.

Assuming Localphone wants all numbers delivered as 00 + country code + number, the following will prepend *1688 to all outgoing SP2/ITSPB calls:

Service Providers -> ITSP Profile B -> General -> DgitMap:

(<*1688>(<00>(1xxxxxxxxxx|<1>[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|<1aaa>[2-9]xxxxxx)|00xx.)|*168800xx.|(Mipd)|[^*#]@@.'@'@@.)

where aaa is your local area code.

  7 digits  ->  *1688001aaa + 7 digits
10 digits  ->  *1688001 + 10 digits
11 digits  ->  *168800 + 11 digits
      00+  ->  *168800+

Interestingly, it lets me dial US numbers in 1+9 digit format....

What are US numbers in 1+9 digit format?

US numbers are 1 + 10 digits.  The 10 digits are area code + local number and the area code cannot start with 1.

carl

Off course, Ron, it is 1 + 10 digit format. My aging brain has problems adding 7+3. :-[

 ???
I was too optimistic.
Since I made the recommended change :

To be able to dial *1688

-> www.obitalk.com
click on your OBi 300 821 860
-> OBi Expert Configuration
-> Service Providers -> ITSP Profile A General
add *1688xx. to the beginning of your DigitMap value, so it looks like:
(*1688xx.|..etc..default_value_do_not_modify...)

You will need to uncheck "OBiTALK Settings" and uncheck "Device Default" to be
able to modify any parameter value.

I can dial 1-10 digit calls, but no international calls.   I get busy signal immediately after pressing 0 after **2*1688. Any ideas ?

Current string in the Digitmap :   *16881xxxxxxxxxx|<1>[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|011xx.|xx.|(Mipd)|[^*]@@.)

@ Ron : Works with US calls, disconnects immediately on international calls after obtaining connection- the same problem as we had before .

Assuming Localphone wants all numbers delivered as 00 + country code + number, the following will prepend *1688 to all outgoing SP2/ITSPB calls:

Service Providers -> ITSP Profile B -> General -> DgitMap:

(<*1688>(<00>(1xxxxxxxxxx|<1>[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|<1aaa>[2-9]xxxxxx)|00xx.)|*168800xx.|(Mipd)|[^*#]@@.'@'@@.)

where aaa is your local area code.

 7 digits  ->  *1688001aaa + 7 digits
10 digits  ->  *1688001 + 10 digits
11 digits  ->  *168800 + 11 digits
     00+  ->  *168800+

RonR

Does the OBi Call History show the desired number being sent out SP2?

carl

OKAY, now hopefully solved.
Apparently, every time you do a hack in the Digitmap, you have to reset the ATT U verse gateway  ::) and do what I described in one of the previous posts.
:) :P

I just woke up somebody overseas so it is O.K. Have to dial 00 though, but that's  fine

Rebooting the OBi is the only action that should be required after making ANY change to the OBi.

If you'd prefer the international prefix to be 011 instead of 00:

Service Providers -> ITSP Profile B -> General -> DgitMap:

(<*1688>(<00>(1xxxxxxxxxx|<1>[2-9]xxxxxxxxx|<1aaa>[2-9]xxxxxx)|<011:00>xx.)|*168800xx.|(Mipd)|[^*#]@@.'@'@@.)

  7 digits  ->  *1688001aaa + 7 digits
10 digits  ->  *1688001 + 10 digits
11 digits  ->  *168800 + 11 digits
     011+  ->  *168800+

Well, I have no explanation for that, but after re configuring the gateway, the problem went away.
Since we have multiple local area codes and 10 digit dialing, may I assume that the local area code info in the Digitmap is not relevant ?
Thank you for all your help, Ron.

Dialing 7-dgit numbers will cause 1aaa to be prepended to them.  If this is not useful, remove:

|<1aaa>[2-9]xxxxxx

carl

Ron, do you have any idea how to dial *1571 without messing up what was already achieved? *1571 is the access to Localphone voice mail. With the current set up, it cannot be dialed ( busy signal after the *).

I'll assume you want it to go to Localphone as *1571 and do not want *1688 prepended to it like everything else (i.e NOT *1688*1571):

Service Providers -> ITSP Profile B -> General -> DgitMap:

(*1571|<*1688>(<00>(1xxxxxxxxxx|<1>[2-9]xxxxxxxxx)|<011:00>xx.)|*168800xx.|(Mipd)|[^*#]@@.'@'@@.)

10 digits  ->  *1688001 + 10 digits
11 digits  ->  *168800 + 11 digits
    011+  ->  *168800+
   *1571  ->  *1571

Thanks Ron. Works great. (Except that Localphone did not fix my account yet so the calls do not go into  voicemail if nobody picks up. :()
However, one thing has to be kept in mind for everyone using the 3600HGV gateway that it really has to be reconfigured after any change in Obi.
BTW is there any good manual teaching an interested person how to do this ATA programming ?

The OBi Device Administration Guide is the only reference for the OBi100/110.

Is there any way to incorporate one or more of the Star Codes into the dialing pattern ( e.g.*67) ?

Sure.  Simply add them to the beginning of the appropriate trunk's DigitMap.  For example, if you need *67 and *69 to go out SP2 instead of being acted upon by the OBi, set:

Service Providers -> ITSP Profile B -> General -> DigitMap : (*67|*69|...)

carl

Now a new problem popped up :  My incoming calls through Localphone get disconnected after four rings before Localphone voice mail can pick them up.  4 rings, then 3 short beeps and that's it. If Obi is off line the calls are properly routed to the voice mail. Any idea ?
