trying to block 876 area code with Obi...

babobi:
Good evening all. We get many junk phone calls from Jamaica, all coming from the area code "876." I'd like to block ALL incoming calls from 876 area code, I tried doing so like this:

-> Physical Interfaces
-> LINE
Parameter “InboundCallRoute”
{(1876x.):},ph

I thought this would do the trick, but it's not working because three new 876 numbers slipped thru today. Can someone please tell me how to block all incoming calls from 876 area code with my Obi 110? I understand that Obi doesn't or can't actually BLOCK calls, but it can be set so that specified numbers will NOT ring, which is just as good.

And where would one go to find technical questions like this answered in an easy to understand manner? Is there an "Obi 110 guide for dummies"? Or anything like that out there? Many thanks in advance!

Stewart:
Your Line port provider may be sending only 10 digits for caller ID -- check the OBi's Call History for the exact string sent on a junk call.  To allow either format, use something like {(1876x.|876x.):},ph

RonR:
The syntax is incorrect in all the previous examples.  Try the following:

Physical Interfaces -> LINE Port -> InboundCallRoute : {(1?876xx.):},{ph}

For more information, see the OBi Device Administration Guide.

Try the following:
Physical Interfaces -> LINE Port -> InboundCallRoute : {(1?876xx.):},{ph}

Thanks RonR! Just copy and pasted this into InboundCallRoute. Should "Device Default" and "OBiTALK Settings" checkboxes next to InboundCallRoute be unchecked? There is an asterisk next to "OBiTALK Settings," shpuld there be? Also just noticed there is now a tiny red exclamation mark to the right of InboundCallRoute. Do you happen to know what this icon means?
