How do I get notified by email when service is unavailable?

If I can get immediate notification of system issues it would make the service much more reliable.

Thanks.  ;D

Hi litensten,

I am unaware of this ability with the present OBI products/firmwares.  Apart from someone rigging a script/program to read syslog outputs and use an smtp server to notify when SIP registration fails, you might want to mention this in the Feature Requests Forum.

Perhaps someone else will have some other ideas to accomplish this.

It's not a bad idea! :)

I asked my service provider (anveo) the same question.
They also do not have this function, they suggested I try their API for now.
In the meantime they've added it to their feature request list.

Just surprised that this isn't a common feature.

Surely this is down to the sip service provider to notify if their service is down, but how many actually admit it's down if it's only for a few minutes. Then again, what if it's just the OBi that needs rebooting. Who's going to send you the email then?

OBi should be able to tell the difference between rebooting itself or failure to connect to SIP server after x tries.

Its simple, when service is interrupted due to SIP server error, OBi would send an email to notify user that service may be down. That's all.
