Hi Guys, hope you're doing well
I'd like to connect my Obi110 to an Obi100 using a VPN connection. Here is the wished configuration:
Obi110<-->VPN gateway 1<-->modem/router 1<-Internet->modem/router 2<--> VPN gateway 2<-->Obi100
VPN Gateway 1: Cisco RV042
modem/router 1: "freebox" (french ISP modem/router)
modem/router 2: Netgear DGN2200
VPN Gateway 2: Cisco RVL200
Please note that VPN gateways will be connected via IPSec.
My main limitation is: modem/router 2 is using 256kb/s (80-90kb/s uplink
) PPPoE internet connection
I'm really worried about:
-uplink bandwith because of extra bandwith required by the VPN (but I'll be using G726-16 codec)
-the path that Obi devices will use. Assume Obi 100 goes to gateway 2, which goes to gateway 1, will the traffic then go directly to Obi110 (i.e recognize it's now local) or do another web loop before terminating to Obi110? I've heard Obi devices are peer to peer, but is it meaningful here?
I haven't done the setup yet and I'd love to hear your comments about this. Do you think this whole thing is achievable? I didn't buy the DGN2200 yet so maybe you'll save me few euros
Cheers!
[Edit] I've found this
http://www.asteriskguide.com/bandcalc/bandcalc.php which says my configuration requires 89.04Kbps bandwith. So barely possible...
maybe I'm wrong? If Obihai implements the G.723.1 codec, apparently this would improve the situation. NB: I'm not using G.729 because I've tested it (without VPN) and quality is very bad.
