GV line has voice mail in inbox, dial tone is intermittent [noting voice mail] but Obi attendant says "You have no new messages".

The Obi attendant has nothing to do with messages. Call your google voice number to check your messages.

So the message is a Google derived message, not a Obi derived message?

That's correct. That is a GV message.

BTW whenever we hear an OBi message it is always delivered by the OBiMAN. If it is a female voice it is not an OBi message.
