Go to Physical Interface --> phone port, you may find corresponding FXS settings (some) there.

Here are some of settings you might want to change (different from OBi defaults)

Ring Waveform: Trapezoid                  (default: Sinusoidal)
Ring Frequency: 25                           (default: 20)

Hook Flash Timer Min: 60                   (default: 70)
Hook Flash Timer Max: 900                 (default: same)
CPC Delay: 2000                              (default: same)
CPC Duration: 100                            (default: 500)

FXS Port Impedance: 370+620||310nF (default: 600)
DTMF Playback Level: -16                  (default: -15)
Caller ID Method: FSK(V.23)               (default: FSK(Bell202))
Caller ID Trigger: after Polarity Reversal(default: after first ring)

I take the opposite view — I strongly advise you not to change ANY of these unless you know exactly why you are changing them.  The reason I say that is because, to be blunt about it, Sipura got several of these settings WRONG. In particular, the first two settings mentioned above are VERY wrong in North America (though many newer phones won't care, some older ones won't ring with those settings, particularly ones made by Western Electric, Northern Electric, ITT, Stromberg-Carlson, etc.  In those phones, which generally had real mechanical ringers, the ringing circuit is tuned to the 20Hz, sinusoidal ringing current sent by the old "Bell System").

Leave the defaults alone and then only change something if you actually have an issue that requires changing that setting.  The only exception to that might be Caller ID Method and Caller ID Trigger — I am not sure if Hong Kong uses the same standards as the United States but since you say you're having trouble receiving Caller ID, please restore all the above settings to the defaults and see if that helps.  Also, I would not be surprised if the FXS Port Impedance is different, but I also doubt it's the same thing the British use.  I know that information is out on the Internet somewhere, it's just a matter of finding it.

Thanks a lot for your advise.

My case is different, I live in Hong Kong.

I think the phone system used in Hong Kong is following UK standard

My OBi110 have problem in Hong Kong by using the dafault setting in the unit which I think it follows US standard.

I am not familar with those phone setting, I just want a simple setup to allow me to use OBiON in my iPhone to call the OBi110 installed at home (Hong Kong) or redirect calls to/from Hong Kong, when I go overseas.

After I watch the youtube movie on "Mary's Story", I thought I got the solution.

So I waited for a few days in Amazon to get 2 units from OBIHAI (not third-party) and ship to a US address and spend USD40 to ask DHL to send it to Hong Kong.

But the result is that maybe the unit is very simple for users to installed in US, but it is a nightmare for overseas users to install their unit with land line.

With default setting, my phone didin't ring when a call come in.

I am really lucky to have another user in Hong Kong send me some settings so that my phone can ring now, but I still cannot get the CallerID right.

Hope OBIHAI, with their professional knowledge, can provide some "standard settings" for overseas users.

ronaldng,

Maybe you can search out yhfung  on this forum. I think he is in HK as well. He has not mentioned these problems. Perhaps he has figured out some configs which are appropriate to your locale.

I meet him on another forum
