Michigan Telephone to get Caller Name

(1/1)

Hortoristic:
I'm interested in using the Michigan Telephone article to configure ( http://michigantelephone.wordpress.com/2012/04/15/how-to-use-the-simon-telephonics-google-voice-gateway-with-an-obihai-device-to-provide-caller-id-name-on-incoming-google-voice-calls/) using so that my GV using this service will display caller name.

I'm interested to know if everyone that also uses this service, is pretty happy?

I don't want to get beat up by my wife that adding this dependancy in the middle sometimes causes calls to be lost.

I also had thought about just forwarding all calls to a DID I have in Canada, which would ring SP2, and use my 3,5000 bucket of minutes that also would cheaply display caller name - but this Michigan Telephone method is free - but being free might have service outages?

lhm.:
Works Ok for me. Two things to note,  No VMWI and if the cnam is not in their data base it will show Google Voice as name and caller's callerid #.

dial.tone:
Works for me, too, most of the time.  I still get some caller ids that say "GoogleVoice," but I'm sure it will get better over time so I am sticking with it.  It won't cost you anything to try it and see what you think!

DrewMan:
It is working for me as well.  I did run into some problems initially... but Bill Simon changed a threshold on my account to grab incoming GV calls before gong to chat clients.  See..
