To use a free DID or not

I'm a bit confused on many of the free DID services.
I have a DID in Canada so my kid can use my Obi like a calling card via AA, and I have a DID in UK so our family can call local number there that rings here. I use voip.ms and pay about $10.00 for both DID's and they are just incomming only.
I see many free DID's out there and am wondering if I should instead be using them? My Canadian DID I'm paying $5.95 a month for and only use for incoming - should I instead look for a free Canadian DID?

Long as you can meet their terms. For example my free Callcentric DID requires some kind of activity within a certain time period or I lose it.
